HONDA - The LEGENDary Journey

So... As you're no doubt aware, yesterday after a hand chewing drama I agreed to purchase the OMG MEGABARG Legend of much temptation as an early Christmas pressie for FATHA_RML.

And arranged to fetch it.

Today.

Currently I'm in Edinburgh Waverly, so we'll have fairly dull recap.

Got up a bit late and hadn't packed the night before because idiot. Mad scramble produced

Caught the town service bus to the local train port

BORING. Following too much of a standard collection thread. Needs more disaster content or I won't read any further. Post something about getting your ankle trapped between the platform and train and then a pic of said swollen ankle with plenty of lacerations, trip to A&E with help from the seller and then troubled drive home in the dark and rain with only one headlight. Because you packed the wrong bulbs or sommat. Or you got on the wrong train and ended up at Dover. Or both.

Edit: you'll have to do this because you're collecting a Honda and they're reliable, therefore the actaul collekshan will be uneventful.

^^^ OK OK OK.... already!!

TILTING trains are for Scotshite border reivers, headding to Gunchester...

Depending on which station you alight there may/may not be space for aformentioned ankle biting ;)

Unfortunately there's been no disaster so far. It's not even cross country so we can't get lost or wind up 4 days late due to signal failure at Thurso.

Currently sat on

Loki chortled as he observed the Rise of Sol, with her superior engineering and crisp packet like plastics.

We have reached Newcastle, which is apparently on fire.

Had lunch on the train as well which was both lovely and free.

And it's not even Saturday night on the Bigg Market.

It's about 100 yards from where I'm sitting. God bless the fire folk. There's appliances from 5 districts on it like a car bonnet. They're putting a hell of a shift in today.

Fantastic! What a great idea for a prezzie. You must let us all know what he thinks of it :) Also, bonus points if you wrap it up.

SITUATION REPORT

Legend is absolutley fine and drives bob on. Fed it before leaving and doesn't appear to have used much fuel either.

Rubbish progress I know. In my defence the weather is awful and I don't remember the A68 being this narrow...

I'd love to try one of the late SUPER HANDLING ALL WHEEL DRIVE ones.

... is that not A.W.S?

It isn't, the car you are driving is twice as wide as your usual one.

Progress seems pretty rapid really compared with the two hour chat with the seller! He could talk the back axle off a LDV convoy.

Which reminds me (one for bullshit thread?) has anyone ever seen a 1.3 A series Allegro with a cogs in sump 5 speed box? He swore blind that not only did he have one he fitted the engine to a mini.

I call bullshit, unless he had one of those jack knight boxes that cost £1bn. I reckon he had a Metro 'HLE' engine with a super-high 4th gear that pretended to carry on like a 5th.

I even pulled him up and said the only 5 speed ever would be an aftermarket straight cut with super skinny cogs because there just isn't room for a regular 5 speed gearset in there. He said it was standard, and that they existed. I think he's remembering a late 1500 or 1750HL

Combat jacket wearer is RML2345. Other guy is the man selling the car. Thankfully I'm behind the camera.
