At first, I have to say I am a bit disappointed by some. Some horrible new cars with horribly shit marketing-names ("GranCoupe" , it´s just a fucking Liftback!) are driven by self-known shiters.

Anyhow.

My daily since March 2015 is this beauty!

A 1989 Pajero V6 3000. Rescued from being run-down for a year or two on a mountain-pasture. Bought it in March 2014, but it was not this nice.

Rusty and with mechanical faults too. I´ve thrown a few thousand Euros at it and now it serves me well since ~ 6500km. I´m very happy with it.

The 3 litre V6 is so much nicer to drive than every modern Euro-5-emission-restricted POS I´ve driven before.

My daily is a 08 rwd transit, it's usually empty apart from my tools or when on a big job, so is actually quiet a handful to drive in the wet. Is 6 speed has a CD player and will cruise all day in relative comfort.

Seen here in its natural habitat

Free fuel and usage means I use it for near enough everything. Just had a new gearbox, so have been using a 1.2 corsa van and a 09 rr sport tdv8 (obvs I enjoyed the corsa more)

But my main car is a 9-5

Modernz fleet from left to right, back to front.

BMW E90 320D - Poverty spec workmobile - cloth seats and no flip down rear seats so carrying anything longer than 5ft is a problem. More blanking plates in the cockpit than anything else i've ever seen (and I used to have a Metro City!)

Audi TT 3.2 V6 - Used daily when not on work commitments - mega fast but get the feeling that the DSG box is an expensive breakdown waiting to happen.

Mrs Ditchfinder's MX-5 1.8. Horrifically expensive when she bought it for what is essentially a 10 year old car. It's got a lovely pearlescent mica paint finish on it though which looks great - although I had to pay through the nose to get it resprayed when I reversed into it at high speed.

Not my exact car, but...ZZZZZZ

Sorry, fell asleep. Yeah, I drive one of these every day. They're actually not that bad, can sum it up with the word "adequate". The handling is adequate, performance is enough and it does OK MPG. Roomy enough for passengers, boot is a decent size, pretty effortless to drive. The headlights are good for not being HIDs. Heater is blast furnace hot, heats up quickly and air con works well in heat. Variable intermittent wipe which is the BEST FEATURE EVER. Two trip recorders are useful when you're claiming mileage. Visibility excellent for something made post 1999.

Being picky it's easy to stall, the suspension is on the hard side so the CD player skips and it's a bit crashy over bad road surfaces. The seats aren't mega comfy, the speakers are poor. interior scratches easily and I prefer the indicators on the left hand side.Thinks it knows best RE when the air con should be on which is annoying, though it's supposed to be helpful.

Ideal work hack though, everything so far just works. Despite being an anonymous semi modern soulless blob, I've warmed to it.

There was some knobber in one of these right up my arse yesterday.  Took me half of Derbyshire to shake him off.

:D

I'm sure Vauxhall made buyers of those sign a document to say that they will be driven no less than three inches off the car in front.

i think kia's are like that, they just kinda get on with the job.

i've yet to meet anyone who's got a bad word to say about them.

This 1988 950 for the last four years or so replacing the mk1 fiesta with suspected HGF and the XR2 with shit suspension and by now tons of rust

attachicon.gifIMG_20150819_090811.jpg

As I've got a new job it's been a bit of a git driving it on the motorway everyday with only 4 gears so might have to out it away for a bit/winter

And this 21 year old 2.4. Drives like a big wobbly Japanese car that uses tons of petrol

Nice mk2. 8)  My mum had a turquoise 1.1, and can't find another in the same colour. :?

This fucker. I had to look for ages through my photos to find a picture of it. I don't think it's a "good looking" car so I never feel the need to take pictures, it looks awkward but I guess that was what Seat were doing at the time. I don't look back at it when I walk away from it in a car park, but I really do look forward to getting back in and driving it.

The previous owner got the wheels powder coated black because he was an idiot who sold herbalife and went to the gym a lot. I will get them done silver again one day because they look absolutely shit, but I'm in no rush because it's got stupidly unnecessarily massive brakes on so I can't just put a set of steels on while I get the wheels done.

Despite it being a bit ugly and the fact that it's done 27mpg over the last 8k miles, I'm really massively happy with it. It goes like an absolute bastard when you ask it to, makes exactly the right noises when it does but the rest of the time it is quiet, reliable and relatively comfortable if you ignore the mega firm ride which is mostly my own fault.

I think the black wheels suit it tbh.

My current daily car/living room/occasional bedroom/kitchen is this 03 Ford Fairlane BA.

CNs9aShUYAAK4rq.jpg

It may be a bit thirsty with its 4.0 straight six but its a comfortable and huge old lump, is big enough to carry people and all their possessions and if I bring the passenger seat forwards, recline it and stick an air mattress on top then I can just fit my 6ft frame between the dashboard and the rear seat back for a nights sleep.

I am also incredibly pleased with how well the air conditioning works. The other day the outside temperature gauge was reading 44 degrees which isn't much fun when you have black leather seats.

Overall it has served me well so far, it's needed a new wheel bearing recently and an upper ball joint but otherwise 2 services and a bit of work sorting problems i knew about when i first got it have got it through the last 25,000km of hard driving over the past 9 months without complaint. With 342,000km on the clock, I think it's doing rather well.

It will be for sale at the end of December/January time, in Victoria, once it has been fully cleaned, valleted and put through a road worthyness test for fresh VIC rego in case any Aussie Shiters have a hankering for a full sized sedan.

This has been my daily for most of the last year, but a couple of weeks ago I resurrected the Maestro and relegated the Somerset to the garage due to some fairly catastrophic water leaks causing the carpets to get damp,

AD, I never interfere with another man's pleasure but I was telepathically willing you to do this when I heard of your damp interior....

The damage done to my Minor after 10 years of leaky screen rubbers (front and back) was heartbreaking.   Ditto my T25 which was much harder to see because it tracked down behind panels and cupboards totally unseen into the sills.

I won't stop using the Minor this winter but it has had new rubbers and I have a drying-out procedure that borders on ritualistic fetishism.

VW is put away for the winter until I can afford to sort out its umpteen windows.

This gets me about locally

Not sure for how much longer though, its leaking pas fluid and gearbox oil. The fuel tank is rotten and I can only put 3 gallons in before it keaks. The gearbox is getting noisy and the starter motor is iffy.

It may just end up as a shed, shame to scrap it, its been so loyal

As I've shown you my incapacitated 820, here's the car I've been using daily for the last year.

2004 Rover 45 Club. Bought in September 2014 and so far is the most expensive car I've owned to date (paid £1000 for it   ). Only had 21,000 miles on the clock when I bought it and now has closer to 34,000 on it. The chap I bought it from told me that the previous owner (his cousin's aunt, or something) was 94 and was replacing it with an automatic Kia! Never too old to give up driving, it seems! Aside from both the front wings being dented and in receipt of a terrible paint job, it is remarkably tidy. I hate the colour though!

Whilst it has never broken down, I've spent about £1600 on a new exhaust, 4 x tyres, brakes, plus the rather predictable head gasket and other routine service stuff! Started overheating, so had the thermostat replaced but that didn't cure it, so had the whole lot done including cambelt/water pump and since then it has been reliable. Before I bought it the clutch was done twice in the space of 3 years, so that explains the automatic Kia replacement...

It's rather well spec'd for what it is. Heated seats, electric sunroof, headlamp washers, parking sensors, etc. t even included a TrafficMaster clock (which is now redundant). My only complaints are that it is rather uncomfortable for long periods and is a tad gutless. My dad has a 2002 45, but his is a hatchback and has done 87,000 miles. They are both 1.6s and his feels quicker - run in more than mine, or lighter body maybe? His also has the 75-style seats which are much better than the ones in my car.

This 45 replaced a 1996 Rover 825 Sterling (such a beautiful, wafty thing that was) and having driven it for a year I have a desire for something bigger again. The MOT is due in January, so I'm going to get a fresh ticket on it and in the new year have a go at selling it. If not, I'll buy something else and just keep this as the work car. Seems a shame to try and sell it after all the work done to it, but after 14 months I am bored and want to try something that isn't a Rover for a change!

HermanTheGerman, a 1998 BMW 728i. Picked it up with very low mileage and a fresh MOT for £notverymuch. Totally solid underneath, and was even my wedding car. Now, it ferries me 3 miles to work every morning at 19mpg. When I bought him, I was doing 500 miles every weekend and getting 36 mpg!

In nearly two years, I've only had to replace bushes, tyres, service it and hold the rear of the exhaust up with steel wire.

Sadly, the paintwork on the drivers side is appalling, so I'm toying with getting it done at the moment.
