Citroen ZX Keyboard FIAL. Help pls.

ZX has stranded me at the petrol station because I bollocksed up sticking the code in. It's a later box with S on the keyboard.

Do I leave the keys in the ignition or call t' RAC?

HALP.

Don't tell me you've managed to kill another XUD car?

On the later keypad with a S button you just leave the ignition switched on untill the beeping and red light stops flashing 30mins.

Then stick the correct code in.

Failing all that (With radio code and immobiliser code) remove battery terminal for 10 minutes ... Someone with more Citroen know-how can gladly correct me here !!

Hopefully the 30 minute wait should fix it for you, but getting rid of the keypad was the first thing I did on my Xantia. (May be the same for a ZX)

From what I remember the keypad is just the entry point. Enter the code and disconnect the pad with the engine running.

It then should not need the code inputting again.

As long as you dont reconnect the keypad.

Hope you are back up and running soon

Did you wait patiently with ignition on, or fuck around for ages pressing stuff ?  ;)

Try the battery trick ??

Describe what you see to me (The keypad, not your wotsit covered winky!), or better still take a pic of what it is doing when you have the ignition on please.

Took battery off.

Red light on. Correct key pad code entered. Green light flashes and beeps. Hear click of solenoid but nothing else.

Flat battery due to half hour wait with the ignition on?

Do you have tools? Take the stop solenoid off the pump, remove the plunger, refit the solenoid and bump start it.

Posted

It's the computer gubbins before the pump that's the problem, and I've heard of people scrap cars before now having lost the code.

Oh, there's often a garage code set 0000 or 9999 that may work.

Reset the keypad with the battery off, fiddled with the starter terminal, twatted the starter with a toffee hammer and it fired.

Tar for the suggestions, chaps.

The fact the light is turning green when the code is entered makes me think that the code is correct.

Have you checked the battery terminals are on tight. (just hoping it might be something unrelated but simple)

That's better than Kate Humble building a Bini.

qwal. Was the toffee hammer just randomly in the car, or do you keep it specially for stuck starter solenoids?

I think this lump needs a thread of its own, wouldn't you agree?

Deffo.  Must include toffee hammer pics or GTFO

It appears this can be fixed quicker than attempting* to get your own balance from phone banking.

anything modern and ubiquitous enough to both have a keypad, and a prescribed workaround to resolve is not what this forum is about!

get a Ledbury Maestro and we can talk..
