For Sale 1990 VW Golf Mk2 GTD

Any interest in what appears to be a rare model, the Mk2 GTD. Basically a Diesel GTi from what I can make out.

 

They have a 80bhp 1.6TD intercooled motor, which is supposed to be quite a strong engine and can apparently be home tuned with excellent results, I'm told that it runs as well on veg oil as pump derv.

 

Needs a sill and some tidying.

My cousin had one of these 20 ish years ago. Was fairly quick and did loads of mpg which didn't really matter as it was filled up from the red diesel tank at work. Think it cost him about the same to buy and obviously nothing to run for the 10 months he had it.

We ran a 1.6TD Mk2 van and it was okay. Were this a van I'd have been very interested.

I'll tell my Golf mad mate about this, he absolutely worships these things and has one decaying on his drive, I think. Don't these engines also fit the T25(?) campers and were also fitted in the Mk2 Passat?

They were produced in Passats as well as Golfs. I do want one of these engines to put in a Scirocco, but no spare time/money at present:(

This is supposed to be a very easy install into a similar vintage petrol VW.
