michael1703 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Bloody awesome, I'd have the zephyr No Daimler sp250 though? They did use mgb but they hated them as they were hot and noisy as they used them on the motorway and had a boot full of stuff for coning off accidents and brooms and sand etc
Cheggers Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 Sadly no Daimler. I think I got all the interesting ones (although I expect Billy to kick my arse for missing the Cavalier). Cavcraft 1

Louise2cv Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Allegro with round steering wheel, most disappointing In fact(???) they never did have quartic steering wheels, because much like Eccentric-Richard's dad found, the corners* hurt the policemen's hands. Matt Byrne, Cheggers and flat4alfa 3
Station Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 You live at the top of a water slide AICMYFP. I always wondering about driving these to the event and impersonating a police officer.
Dick Cheeseburger Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I always wondering about driving these to the event and impersonating a police officer.Depends on your catalogue. I'd be brilliant* if the police occifer was Bruce Forsyth, John Peel, Chris Tarrant or Butthead, from Beavis and Butthead fame. I'd smoke the mk2 'Tina, Lotus or not. Thanks for sharing.

richardthestag Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 They did use mgb but they hated them as they were hot and noisy as they used them on the motorway and had a boot full of stuff for coning off accidents and brooms and sand etc The order was for a sporty Sherpa V8 Got lost in the translation somewhere DSdriver 1

Grampian Police from memory. The Ant Anstead one was a special order Vitesse (according to Honest John, who is honest and called John), so not the same one. The one I papped was a little rough around the edges... BorniteIdentity 1
danthecapriman Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Great spots. The Volvo 240 was actually a Hampshire police car originally and found then restored. It was featured in PC mag some years ago I think. There's a bit more info on it here http://hampshireconstabularyhistory.org.uk/?page_id=722 BorniteIdentity 1

dollywobbler Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 We had Maestros in Brum. Not quite so glamorous I guess. Your 80s Rozzer wagons look suspiciously 90s to me. I'm gonna bust you back down to constable.
Taff Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 You live at the top of a water slide AICMYFP. I always wondering about driving these to the event and impersonating a police officer. chap near me has an XJ-something done up like a motorway patrol car (excuse the technical jargon...) and he has covers that he puts over his blue lights.
mercrocker Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Uninteresting trivia regarding Hampshire Constabulary - - They were the first force to use furrin' motors - they had two Amazon estates on test in the late sixties and switched to 144S saloons in 1969. I can remember the harrumphing That Corty is indeed a Lotus (think it was the one modelled as a Vanguard) but they had others - My Uncle was a motorway plod when the M3 extended into Hampshire territory and I remember an illicit high speed blatt in the back of his Lotus - bundled under a blanket behind the front seat like a miniature train robber so that nobody would know I was joy-riding. He gave me the same treat when he was testing a 2.5 PI estate (I think these were the ones that had the infamous VHF radio interference going on with the injection system).

dugong Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 If we're talking unsuitable police vehicles, what about the 1.8 Marina? Remember when all the BL apologists went mad when the copper in For The Love of Cars said they were useless at catching Escorts?
