Little Green Rover

Yo! Sweet winning man. Floor mats! Glorious original floor mats to boot! Actually, speaking of the boit, you appear to have a load of floor mats in the boot in all. Are they to go over the top of the original fabric mats? If so, I like this idea. Did it with the Merc, Micra but only on the drivers side in the Rovers.

I reckon the wheel trims need changing to summat more period too in all honesty. They are nice and original Rover items (from the Rover 100) but don't really suit it.

Rovers man, it seems that when you get into them you can't get out/away from them!

I haven't had a look at them to be honest Mo.

I have a set of Rover rubber mats in the garage, I might see if they can be adapted to fit the Little Rover. If so then they will go in.

I'll soon be out there with the clay and so on. I will do something with the faded bumpers too.

I'll give it a good blast with the jet wash under the floor and wheel arches. There seems to be some light surface rust that will be taken care of. This is such a nice car and it would be a shame to spoil it.

I just wish that bloody door card was intact.

Not sure what trims would be original. I will have to research!

Joe, just tried to PM you but I think your inbox might be bursting at the seams :)

Ken, the wheel trims on my silver 214 SLi, although not original to the Si, would be more period. The trims in the boot are the later 25 items and aren't ideal either.

The 216 I'm getting off Joe has the same trims fitted as on my 214, you are welcome to them once I've picked the car up if they are any use?

Joe... inbox...  :)

Sorry Ken, please try again with your address mate, I've cleared some space. When I go into town next week I'll pop it int' post.

Do let me know if there are any other little nik-naks that I may be able to help you with.

EBay has yielded a better rear parcel shelf in the correct colour from a 216.

I have sent messages to the breakers asking about door cards, I forsee an issue with cloth trim differences and electric window switches, mine are povvo-spec keep fit winders.

The trims on it are the correct ones for the model:

Agree they don't suit them that well though!

Rimming Bros

I think 4 is better than 6.

Would MGF wheels fit? Just out of interest.

The breakers got back to me, all of the cars have electric windows :(

No big deal.

Ah, shame. Thank you for knowing this :)

Gonna wallop the Rover with some autoclay in a min.

No doubt I will get struck by lightening. That might actually improve my mood.

Did some claying with Demonshine as a lube, came up lovely.

Fitted the replacement parcel shelf and it looks a treat. These parcel shelves are bloody heavy though for what they are.

This is such a lovely car :)

Really chuffed that you are happy with it Ken. It is a good example of an R8 and just needs some TLC around cleaning etc which isnt my forte. If it's not mechanical I'm not interested!

I really, really like it mate. It's a lovely looking car, nice shape and the 3 door suits it. I'll continue with the detailing of it and will get some more piccies.

Any idea when it last had a service?

Posted

I'm not sure mate, I didn't get chance to do it in the two weeks I had it. There's a folder of paperwork in the glovebox, might be some clues in there ?

Christ on a stick! The V5C turned up today!!!! Have you got a direct line to the DVLA?

The one for the Dolomite hasn't arrived! Forms filled in and sent as a result.

DVLA - why be consistent?

No probs John, I will attend to that as soon as payday arrives :)

Good going still not got V5 for my Raffle Rover yet  :-(

Hey folks, don't rush to shell out to those DVLA chancers if the V5 isn't prompt. It took over two months this summer for them to send me the logbook for the little yellow Fiat, and during that time they told me on the phone they had no record of it coming, so I'd have to buy a replacement.

Just hold tight and hope you don't need it quick, and it's always worth a friendly phone call to the seller asking them if they've got around to posting it off.

This is such a lovely car. I really wanted to keep it but my dogs would have destroyed it.

I reckon 3 door really suits.

That's pretty quick turnaround as that is two v5 in a month I think

Spent a bit more time cleaning it. I know, I am sad.

Found some rust!!!!!

There are a couple of inches worth of rust next to the body mounted bit of the tailgate latch. It is hidden by the boot seal and plastic boot trim :(

I'm gutted :(

I will now have to burn it. With real fire.

Or I could just fix it.

John, the boot is now devoid of McD bag and chip trays :D

are the door cards the same on left hand drive? maybe one from another country won't be knackered as normally no one sits in the passenger seat

Posted

That is actually a very good point.

I shall enquire :)

Quick questions.

Window winders. How the feck do they come off?

Clock, how in gods name do you get to the bloody thing to replace it?

Ta :)

The proper, original wheel trims were in the boot, Ken. When I had I left the later (25) ones on as they were nicer looking, imho. I think the bloke I got it off serviced it himself as he worked at James Edwards, where the car came from.
