If you work hard and buy a nice car you're an asshole, apparantly

Yep, clickbait.

But if it isn't, somebody actually OK'd it for publishing. Oops.

Dan Ashcroft was right. The idiots are taking over.

I wish I could ask her out on a date, then show up in a Bentley...

I think she's lovely, smashing really.

But I've read that article and I couldn't agree less with its premise.

I hope the fishwrap publishes a retraction soon...as well as a photo of her posing next to a car.

...it really doesn't matter to me which car, as it wouldn't be bad either...

Mega lame ass article, of zero journalistic or philosophical merit. However, almost certainly WOULD.

Blimey, they're still publishing the Herald?

I suspect the aim was to get people talking about her blog, mission accomplished.

Slightly on topic, with my primered up/ damaged 90's transit I've noticed people tend to wave me through/ avoid me in car parks and rather than envy I suspect I get something approaching sympathy.

An old Landrover is perfect for this

It's clickbait. Poor man's Katie Hopkins/Jan Moir.

but no-where near as sexually arousing as the spiteful Ms Hopkins

"I'd scratch her flanks", or something.

right swiped. It should be an interesting date if we match

I always park the F next to something Gucci. It's always there when I get back and, given the state of it, I have no idea if it has picked up additional scratches or not

I think everybody is being very hard-on this young lady. She is just paid to invent opinions and be wanked over, she doesn't get time to think.

Received this just now, following my complaint to IPSO...

"Dear Reader,

Thank you for your comments regarding Catriona Stewart’s column in The Herald of September 11. I am sorry that the column has offended you. This was neither Catriona’s intention, nor The Herald’s.

Her intention was to use the story about the conviction for “keying†an expensive car as a starting point to write about her views on people who drive expensive, high-performance cars. Her views

that such people tend to drive aggressively and in a disrespectful way – will be shared by some readers but opposed by others.

That is her opinion and she is entitled to express it in a newspaper that believes in free speech and open debate. Her intention was to use the example of “keying†to reinforce her position on such drivers. This she strove to do by making references to “keying†that were intended to be sardonic.

Catriona would never “key†or otherwise vandalise a car. The Herald condones neither action and believes that those convicted of such offences should be punished appropriately by the law.

With the benefit of hindsight, we should all have taken greater care to ensure that the finished article was less intemperate in tone.

We believe in balance as well as tone and, in today’s edition, we published an article by the commentator Andrew McKie that takes issue with Catriona’s views in a clear-headed and intelligent way. In addition, we published on today’s Letters Pages correspondence from three readers who disagree with Catriona. I have attached both in case you have not had the opportunity to read them.

Our intention in publishing Catriona’s article was to stimulate interest and debate. We have certainly done so in this case and I am sorry if you believe this has been the outcome for reasons that are questionable or wrong.

Yours sincerely,

I got a different response from IPSO.

They asked me to 'specify the Clause(s) in the Editors' Code of Conduct under which I am seeking to complain".

Which I have now done (namely: accuracy, opportunity to reply, discrimination). Although I doubt I'll be able to make the discrimination angle stick, that particular taboo seems to only work for particular forms of stereotyping (gender-specific, ethnic or religious).

I want her to be forced to expose her breasts on the paper's website as an apology. Whilst splayed on the bonnet of an Aston Martin with a key up her arse.

I'll keep you posted.

I realise I'm getting old when I remember when The (Glasgow) Herald used to be a newspaper.

to stimulate interest and debate.

Is it really a debate when one person says something and literally everyone disagrees?

It isn't a debate when the law has already ruled that malicious vandalism is a crime.

The Herald can't be as bad as 'The National' though. Oh I simultaneously facepalmed and wet myself when I discovered that it actually existed on a recent holiday to Scotland.

Without wanting to condone vandalism, the author does raise a point about power corruption.

But she does, explicitly condone vandalism.

But she does, explicitly condone vandalism.

And she also clearly wants to condone vandalism. She wrote a newspaper article that does precisely that.

Why would you be surprised that such a thing would exist?

In the independence referendum 45% of the turnout voted yes, that's about 1.4million people.

This was despite almost the entire media pushing for a no vote.

In purely business terms, it makes sense to market to an uncattered for 1.5 million people.

In social terms it makes sense to have a variety of political opinion in the media.
