Hmmmm. It could be argued that the car was destroyed by the TV crew who 'modified it'. I'm led to believe the car will never be roadworthy, it's been finished to such a poor standard just to make a TV show. It sold for below estimate and was probably only a short while away from the scrapyard. Disclaimer; I've never seen it but have spoken to a couple of people who have witnessed it in the metal (or rather, filler).I could see your point if it was a mint car destroyed, a la Top Gear, but this is little more than a TV prop being smashed up in the name of charity.

Thats beside the point

It just annoys me you can make a statement by sticking on a few Iorn crosses, and nitomors in a wasser cooled VW, yet chop, channel a saab and it shite - wheres the Karma 8)

It is foul, kill it.

What was it, by the way?

Saab 900

It's still foul. Still kill it.I quite like 900s, but that is hideous and should be put out of its misery. Why do people build that kind of thing?I actually prefer the slightly rusty, ratty VW look to that Saab.

I witnessed the 'unveiling' of the Johnny Vegas Golf at doncaster custom car show.. done by the same guys.. well there was some imagination involved.. sadly not in metalwork.. mainly in isopon.

I see little problem with the destruction of an already ruined motor car and am glad that its all for charidee!Stripping the paint off bits of an otherwise mint polo etc is not as creative, granted, but I can't see any redeeming features in that ex-Saab.

As experiments go, this is one that Dr Frankenstein* wouldn't even have considered. Get it weighed in and fragged.

*edit for reasons of taste(and inaccuracy)

It's truly horrid!! I preferred it when it was a Saab (albeit a tired one) which would have made me feel a little more compassion for the car, but this deserves to be killed IMO. It looks like the result of a three way cut & shut involving an Aston, a Saab, and some obscure supercar from the 90's :?

That is just a fuggin eyesore and should die. The original Saab might have been nice but that is lost now. This horror does not deserve to stay around any longer.

Do you not think it should be kept?. It will live for years on the net as we know-but kept as an example of how not to do it could be better. Think of previous horrors like the aurora car

I watched that episode of Chop Shop the other week. Never seen it before. Johnny Vegas had asked for a Golf with a big engine as he wanted a bit of a sleeper, so they had shoehorned in an Impreza turbo running gear. Things were going swimmingly and then one chap got hold of the bodywork and it went quickly downhill. He made it unreckonisable. Bloody terrible.

To be fair to them, they did make a good job of the Rover Jet 1 Jools Holland requested. The rest are horrors though

But boy did he have to argue with them to get them to make it look right.

God only knows what a pile of cack they would have turned out otherwise.

There didn't seem to be all that much filler in that one either.

How do they get on registering any of that stuff?

'Jools’ replica was created out of a 50-year-old Rover 80, a 60-year-old Rover 75 and fitted with 30-year-old Jaguar XJ6 mechanics so it’s combined age is 140 years old.':roll:
