Little Green Dolly - £500

Recommended Posts

Repeated lookings at washer pumps on the bay of evil has resulted in 12 pounds spendage. So much for not spending anything this month then. Stupid twat.

Spent 5 hours cutting and polishing the bodywork. It doth gleam!

Can someone please photoshop the Dolly with a white roof, a white roof and bonnet and the same in black please? The roof and bonnet are not great and I am thinking vinyl. I am totally knackered now and I ache horribly but hey, it was worth it.

Thanks v. much.

Typically the washer pump arrived today. Oh well, a job for next week.

Just thinking out loud at the moment but once she is welded and MOT'd would there be any potential owners out there willing to pay around the 950 mark for this Dolly?

:)

Ok folks. Any views on the photoshop images?

I am leaning towards the white roof and bonnet.

Roof is ok, not a fan of the bonnet being painted. Not my motor however  :-D

Personally I'd leave the whole thing green, but the black roof only also looks good.

If you paint the bonnet a different colour it looks a bit odd because of the front panel/grille surround still being green.

Yep, leave it green. It looks like it's got the wrong bonnet on if it's a different colour, even if it matches the roof.

Captain 70s should buy this, because he needs to own ALL TEH DOLOMITES.

Having evaluated it carefully I've come to conclusion that it's too nice for me and I'd generally bugger it up. Also I already have three, which could be considered rather silly.

I also try not to double up on models/colours, so if it was a Magenta Sprint or a Damson 1500fwd at the same price...

Whoa there. 3? 3?

1850 and 1300.

I just thought you had 2? WTF?

1500HL with no interior or floor. Bought it for the engine and a few bits of metalwork.

Does it have overdrive for occasional motorway duties?

Oh yeah, the scrapyard one! I remember now!

1300s never came with overdrive, so I'm guessing not. The 1500 box (with o/d) can be fitted, but apparently the exhaust needs re-routing and there are starter motor/flywheel issues. [/convincingly authoritative]

Yes, I have been lurking on the Dolly OC forums this evening.

A different diff would also work IIRC. Don't ask me which one.

yeay!!

i do like these, i like them alot.

all one colour is the way for one of these.

2 tone is kinda acceptable on a mini, and also on a capri gt type thing.

wee dolly's should be all one colour.

and the bumpers and refreshed door cards and grill look ace.

top work sir!

Fiddled with Dolly this morning.

Jacked the bugger skywards and lobbed a couple of axle stands under there whilst fumbled with the last remaining petrol pipe of shite. No bodywork collapsed - that is always a good sign.

Only small loss of dino-juice occurred. Most of it trickled down my arm.

Knackered pipe cut off and lovely new pipe fitted.

Chuck some more juice in the tank and a couple of turns of the key resulted in a running Dolomite. I replenished the dashpot and tweaked the idle and all was well.

We trundled out of the garage and round the yard and all was well some more.

Slightly rattling thrust bearing but it will live for a while longer yet. Taking the front seats out is the way forward..... meh.

So she is all ready to go over to my mates place for welding, fettling and MOT.

I gave the garage a tidy and forgot totally to fit the brand new washer pump. Arsebiscuits.

Change of plans sale now needed for my Dolomite.

Needs to go to fund other purchase. Hadn't foreseen this one but you have to grab what and when.

Needs MOT, requires welding underneath: under the fuel tank, sills and chassis rail, all TOTALLY do'able and easy to get to.

Also needs rear number plate lights fixing, wiper blades, oil and filter (filter supplied. Rad works but new one supplied.

Various cosmetic faffs but most stuff supplied.

£500 as is without the welding done. You will double that at least with the welding sorted.
