Cheers Ian, unfortunately I can't get both to run at the same time on my phone..

That's you fecked then!

Alas, nah!

The burd Has come home from work, and shown me that we have Eurosport with the TV...

So I now have a live feed (although the commentary is not the best, I may hit up radio le mans)

Bah! Live stream has just been killed off by copyright claim.

That's you fecked then;)

If you have a VPN and can point it to France then there is full live footage of all of it here:

https://www.france.tv/france-2/direct.html

Commentary is in French but even my rudimentary GCSE standard is enough to work out whats going on.

Or just mute that and listen to the commentary by Radio Le Mans. I'm doing that with the Eurosport feed at the moment, because the Eurosport commentary/studio segments are UTTER PISH.

GT Pro is proving much more exciting than the LMP cars. Proof that outright speed is not everything.

Well, a third is achieved. There was quite some drama so far.

What a pity about the Aston, so undeserved.

What amazes me most so far is how the Team Corvette is fighting.

Aren't they just?

That race isn't over yet, guys.

It's great stuff. Amazingly few retirements, and not that many smashes - though a few more now the dark and tiredness are starting to kick in. I'm going to have to wimp out by 11pm I think.

The racing itself is as fierce as ever.

This night will be a thriller, that's for sure.

Some tough luck for SMP, innitt?

Posted

Neither of their cars having a good go of it. At least the #11 is still running.

Looked like the #17 would be back in the pits in pretty short order, but must have been a bigger problem than first thought.

Which is a shame, since SMP vs Rebellion was my last hope of any thrill in LMP1.

I mean, those Toyotas are going to FTP anyway, won't they?

Junkman to describe Car 17 please! Jeepers that was some impressive sparks and smoke!

It's fucked.

I've seen Lanz Bulldogs spewing fewer sparks and less smoke.

Just watched five minutes of which three minutes was mechanics dithering in the pits so I can't be bothered to watch any more :(

Posted

I've had the TV remote since 3pm so I can watch this.

The burd is happy - #howtokeepanidiotentertained

Good race so far, #17 driver did his damnest - we've all been there trying to will a car onward

I've watched more of this than I have of F1 this year, it's bloody fantastic. However, to quote my Facebook thing earlier today...

"Remember guys the race is 24 hours long so don't get over excited and crash on the first lap..."

Not even 15 seconds in and this happens - I think someone will be getting their jotters!post-3066-0-30761400-1529187456_thumb.jpg

Le Mans is like noisy cricket; it goes on in the background even when you aren't watching and you can dip in and out as you like, throughout the 24 hours, on the radio... :-)

Third time he's tried to get it running.... impressive plumes of smoke indeed.

Bonus points also for the commentator sniggering after saying "snatch tractor"

Just caught up with this on Quest +1 - nice sparks!

The commentator is well known in cycling for his "Kirby-isms!!

Amazing. The track has gone all French and they're having to weld up drain covers!

Posted

"thank goodness they've got this massive advantage of 11 laps on the next nearest car"

Well fuck them.

Posted

Yes, top class isn't exactly thrilling is it? I shall stick to the cars that look like actual cars. They've been having some entertaining ding-dongs.

Remember what happened to Toyota on the last lap last year.....

Year before I think. I certainly didn't hear a fat lady sing until that car was well over the finish line. I enjoyed the race, but not for the Toyotas racing against themselves and no-one else.

Yeah it wasn't the best race due to the lack of top teams but the GT's were pretty well matched again. Poor old jenson had a nightmare with the car finally crying enough in the last hour. Toyota did make it look easy but it can be very unpredictable. Hopefully there will be some proper competition when the rules change in 2020. I even managed to get some decent photo's this year which I will upload when I get home on Tuesday
