EssDeeWon Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Blimey there is some great stuff in there. That blue MK1 Astra estate, Fiat Croma, Pug 305, SD1, MK2 Cavalier, Senator etc etc.. Banger Kenny 1
Lankytim Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Odd that that shite has sat there for so long. I bet it's lost thousands in value since the scrap value crashed. There's a yard near me in Stoke that I'm yet to visit, It's down a farm track and away from prying eyes but the pile of cars is visible from the A500 in winter when the trees have no leaves on them. None of the cars have moved in the 10 years I've lived here. Very odd. Banger Kenny and chaseracer 2

Banger Kenny Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 Any cortinas' or have they all been ovaled?Didn't see any Ford tin at all funnily enough - Mally's in Haydock is a better bet for Ford bits. ShiteRider 1
omegod Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Is that Croma the diesel? So the badge said, not sure if it's still their but it was quite hidden away
omegod Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Didn't see any Ford tin at all funnily enough - Mally's in Haydock is a better bet for Ford bits. I love Mally's yard, absolutely lethal place, had several mishaps there  but a proper old school yard. Think there was a mk2 Granny at the back but don't recall ever seeing a tina. Got some recent pics from there i'll chuck up later  Banger Kenny 1
BorniteIdentity Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Cheers for sharing Bangerkenny. My best Scrapyard wanker story:  Ring scrapyard - Me: "Morning fella, have you got X?" SYW: "Aye. Cash only." Me: "Righto, be half an hour" *noises of car driving, stopping , and the drivers door opening and closing*  Me: "Morning mate, I was on the phone earlier, I've need the X you said you had."  SYW: "£80. I took them off the car."  Me "Really?! Theyre like £20 on ebay, with a tenner postage? I'd go £35 if it helps"  *SYW throwns one part on the ground and stamps on it, shattering plastic and ruining it*  SYW: "I'd rather smash it than sell it for that. Get one off fucking ebay, fucking timewaster."  Me: "Will do man. Have a good day."  *sound of car door opening and closing, engine starting and car driving away*  I dont know how people like that stay in business, but they never seem skint. This very much sounds like what happened to a pal of mine at the Volvo graveyard on the A1. Rear lamp cluster for a 244 ended up in the river. His son in law runs it now and is slightly more mellow.  Slightly. Lacquer Peel and Banger Kenny 2
michael1703 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 So you stack cars on top of each other to save room, I get that bit. But some of the stacked cars have no salvageable parts left, the shell weighs fuck all and is rusting away. You have a shell worth nothing, that has gone from steel to mushy wet cornflakes and worth fuck all. But your rotten shell takes up the same amount of space as a perfectly functioning car So why the fuck don't they get rid of the carcass that has nothing left on it so they've got room for cars to sit unstacked? sierraman Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 God knows. I don't dispute they make a fair bit of money from it but to chuck something away rather than get £20 is idiocy. It wouldn't kill them to be a bit more amiable. From a commercial perspective why they haven't baled the Fiat Croma is a mystery, the parts are no good to man nor beast, they've waited and kept it despite scrap price having gone to a high price, decided not to weigh it in, now it's worth fuck all.  Irony is if they'd had half a brain between them they'd be retired now. Lacquer Peel Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I would have loved a shot of that Croma TD 15 years ago. Did they sell Croma diesels in the UK? Sofim engine?
Tamworthbay Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I saw the pic of the beetles and the number nine and smiled thinking, nine less............ Am I a bad person? Would definately be up for AS scrappy run, can I suggest Albert looms in Spondon near Derby? I used to go there nearly every week when I had my first cars and my Capri was rebuilt with bits from there. Banger Kenny, Lacquer Peel and Honey Badger 3

chaseracer Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 The Midlands Massiv is due a day out - can we come too?
Tamworthbay Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Can't see why not, meet up in the car park about 1pm? I need to be away from derby about 2.30pm as nipper has a brownies sleepover, or we could do an epic session at a later date? sofarsogood and chaseracer 2
chaseracer Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Let's see what the collective thinks... sofarsogood 1
Mr_Bo11ox Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Dont know much about the motor in those Croma TD's (dont think they sold them in UK) but I have heard it cited as the car that beat the Montego TD to the title of 'first passenger car with a direct injection diesel'
