What's it about & which channel is it on...?  ;)

Fantastic. Except they placed the badges on the back the wrong way round.

They seemed delighted with the final figure but no doubt the work done to the car (basically a bare shell rebuild) simply couldnt be done for that money professionally.

One of the best car programmes on at the moment. Even the non-car-loving other half quite likes it.

Though the SD1 was let down by a post-2001 font numberplaet...

It's something my mrs likes watching too and she has little interest in cars. I am looking forward to the Mk1 Transit restoration (and the Mk1 Golf GTi but don't tell the Autoshite anti VAG brigade)

I like Car SOS too but I don't think it has the mass appeal that For the Love of Cars has. My mrs just doesn't get Fuzz Townshend.

I really enjoyed it too but reading online that Ant didn't restore it but a SD1 & TR7 Specialists did instead.

^The rear plate did say " robsport" IIIRC at the bottom, I assumed they supplied the plate but it makes sense if they did the resto too.

Explains why there was much less of the resto this episode and more of the history etc

I missed the programme I should have watched as an ex Strathclyde plod SD1 owner. I think I got about £9400 less for YSG---W when I sold it mind!

I've only just caught up with the Aston from last week. Mainstream channel, so they do chop a lot of detail out for a mainstream audience, but it's very watchable.

Agreed. Painstakingly thorough attention to the resto including all the police gear etc, and then bosh on some modern plates right at the finish.

Tricky one that, as it is still technically illegal to fit proper plates. Can be harder to bend the rules with such a large audience. Still very annoying. Stupid law.

Couldn't possibly have an ex-plod car with illegal plates, could we...

Loved the re - enactment of the liver run through London, especially the moronic bird who managed to miss 2 police bikes, the police Granada (all with blue lights going) the happy couple were driving, and the camera car......can you guess what car she was driving???

Posted

What was the deal with the car going from an A reg to a C half way through?

*edit ignore me it seems it didn't, I must've had a few too many ales!!*

Noticed that too!

There's definitely something about this series that tickles the ladies' fancy... Mrsinconsistant watched last week's Aston one to the end without falling asleep at all, and yesterday 'forced' me to watch the Rover one.

She also chod spotted and papped a Volvo Amazon on Saturday. Result.

did I dream it or did "Hearbeat" once feature a Police-liveried Anglia with the reg number COP105E?

Posted

I didnt realise they did a liver run re-enactment! I fucking love that bit of film

A mate told me about it 15 minutes after it started, so I'm going to download it tonight and watch it from the start.

I can't warm to that programme, or the Car SOS either.

I actually got stuck in Belfast Airport with Tim a few months back, dead nice bloke and was happy to listen to my weakly grumble about the show and answer my queries. He was quite keen on my Galaxie though, and he grinned as he said it was a shame we had met as he had been emailed by my son to feature the Galaxie but would now have to cancel that episode as I had now spoiled it. Bummer, eh?
