The Skoda Rapid I already raffled in September then it appeared at East Anglian Motor Auctions so stuck a bid on and won it.

Picked up a Daihatsu Fourtrak, its tidy enough but handles terribly on those massive tyres.

Also picked up this beige beauty!

It's decent enough, just a shame about the crappy minilite alloys and racing steering wheel.

That model of Fourtrak handled terribly on any tyres.

Another interesting one arrived this month.

This AE92 Corolla

Certainly a rare sight in the UK, very much in the shadows of the AE86 despite objectively being a better performing car.

AE92 are fwd which is the reason they aren't nearly as popular.

Ah, that'd explain it. It looks cool anyway.

Hilux's much like buses, wait for 1 and 3 come along at the same time. 2 red red and 1 green 4x4.

Some more progress on the brown w123, this sides welding is pretty much finished.

Also picked up a little R tech inverter welder so invested in a spool gun to try some alloy welding.

That 505 is looking better than it has in years.

It needs to lose the bolt-on arches and chin spoiler and be back on 13s... I'd settle for 15" slot mags and 195/45s though.

Been looking at buying that spool gun for a while. Never welded aluminium but got some projects in mind.

Any good?

It's quite noisy, messy and spattery but it seems to work. I went for 1mm and 0.8mm wire but have only tried the 1mm on some alloy which had already been welded.

I need to get some material to play with and figure out what works best.

Cheers!

Next year I want to make a dropside bed for the laplander. Might just stick with steel for simplicity this time.

People seem to be losing their shit about the 505 Gti, it was a popular car last time around in April 2023 but there seems to be even more want for it now! I'm not a fan of the styling but I'm not keeping it so it'll be staying like this.

I removed the massive wheel spacers from the Fourtrak and now it looks just right!

I picked up a cheap C50 which actually seems to ride quite well.

After a short drive on Sunday it was clear there was something up with the BMW, turns out the spring cup had partially collapsed and was rubbing on the tyre.

Fixed it in situ by compressing the spring, used a bottle jack to return it to the correct position then welded fuck out of it.

I'd been dreading trying to sort it but it was actually quite easy in the end.
