Hey Southern Shandy-Drinking Shiterz!  (copyright B Cavette)

New catalogue in linky below, who's up for a peek.

Myself and my trusty sidekick Blind Trevor (not just a clever name) and Captain Wuvvum attended the last one, although due to the masses of people there, didn't manage to meet up for a cuppa / laugh and point / prod of chod.

I'm potless, so will just be going along for the crack, however meeting my nan's husband up there, who is in the process of flogging a shiny MG TC of 1956(?) flavour......

Got the wants for most of the stuff listed....

For me, that Austin 12 has more character then everything else in the sale. Am I alone in sometimes often just seeing a car and immediately saying 'I want it'.

Yeah! Me! 230te for a friend and mebbe the e21 for me.

That red and white Land rover would be my dream pick.

I might go along, but I found last time rather hard work tbh - it took me ten minutes to get from the entrance to the second hall (a distance of about 20 yards).  Could barely get close enough to the action to even see what was being driven through, they were missing bidders left right and centre as there were just too many people to keep an eye on, and that auctioneer still has the most irritating voice of any human being alive.

The catalogue is tempting though.  Would be even more tempting if I had money, but you can't have everything.

There's no reserve on that...Just saying like ;)

Bit of a treck for me, but if I have nothing better to do...

Just back from this; less cold than the last one, but just as many WTF? moments.

I will start with pictures, sarky comments on prices; any particular requests, shout. (I didn't stay RIGHT to the end....Brizzle 401 was the last thing I saw.

So....

Lot 169, very pretty Alfa GT Veloce, appeared to need nothing done, estimated at 18-22k, hammer fell at £20700.

montreal_-_ace_cafe.jpg

This Montreal was nice, but not minty, bidding started slowly and then went mad; wstimated 24-28k, eventually sold £38000. NOICE!!

img_9177.jpgThis looked nice - apart from the RIMZYO, 56,000 miles, blah. Estimated at 2-3k, after some very spirited bidding it hit £5000. Then, on the A10, near Ely, I spied it in a layby with the bonnet open. Well bought Sir!

Bugger, how come I only saw this thread after I'd come back from the auction?

Definitely better than last time, a lot less crowded and it was actually possible to see cars being sold. Still a lot bigger and more crowded than it was 5 years ago, and prices are certainly on the up.

I loved the 2.3GL Granada, and the 900i SAAB, kind of wished I might have bid on the Renault 25 at £450, even if it was a bugger to start.

Did you see the Capri with the small block Chevy in it? I was standing next to the bloke who'd bought it when one of the drivers told him to be careful as it still only had 1.6 brakes in it...

There was loads there I would have quite happily taken home, the 2.3 Granny certainly, and the R25 was LUSH, although I'd put large amount of (someone else's) money on the toys not being fully functioning.

Here's the R25 in question;

untitled-1050401.jpgThe interior looked like a really comfy place to be - bearing in mind I'd been standing up for a while...The fact it only got to £450 was scandalous.

I agree Outlaw118, it was worth more than the £450 it got to. I don't think it helped that it took ages to start, but from what I saw, that was more because the daft bugger trying to start it forgot about the immobiliser and flooded it. As you say, the chances of all the electrics working are slim, but it seemed a solid old beast and those seats just looked soooo comfortable.

Did you see what the Granada went for?

This:

img_9268.jpgbit of a Joseph, see door and wing paint match, but sounded fit, and seemed to be straight in general., £2400.

And the Maxi, as spotted by Mr_Skizzer in the ebay thread....

really was as nice as it looked, and whilst I was being physically restrained, the hammer fell at £3300.img-20150401-wa0005.jpg

That Maxi drove past me last week whilst i was in the Mk3 and the driver waved to me.

Mr Dolly_Wobblah in Lotto Win Piss Away Shocker.

1.jpg1952 2CV Ripple Bonnet, was as nice as one will get. But being a Renault 4 type of guy, it was easy to resist. Estimated at 15-20k (!), failed to sell when bidding stopped at £13800.

That's neat, that's neat, that's neat, that's neat, really love your Tiger feet...etc...

060.jpgThis was megasuperawesome. 77k miles, and in really nice order. Estimated at between 9 & 10k, sold provisionally at £9000.

BRAN FYND YO, last MoT's in 1977, estimated 15-20k, sold for £23000.img_9144.jpg

£450 for that R25, it's a good job I didn't go or I may have ended up bidding on that.

Any idea what the SM went for?

Posted

That Tiger was value at 9 grand when some Transit engined Escorts make 25 plus.

£13'800 for the Cit was plenty - it's very nice though. I remember seeing those ancient ones in rural France in the seventies, mostly beaten to buggery or being used for housing hens.

SM, t'was in a mess, the photo makes it look better than it actually was.

£3100.

Last one of the night coz I R TIYAD is his gopping little piece of automotive shittery. Every bit as shite as it looked; if I had bought this, this whole forum would have had to be closed, as I would have won. £1500, apparently a restored one has just sold in Teh Stayts for $25000. Hmmmm.

It's a good job I didn't go, otherwise I would be sat here wondering a) where the fuck am I going to store a scruffy Solyto and b ) how the fuck am I going to pay the rent this month?

Posted

why would you go near that sunbeam when you can buy a restored one for 25k or a hi po 400hp one for 40

or a mad german one he wants 79k for

Posted

the new map is a rare two window fourgo - something.

And the $25000 one was at bruce Weiner's museum, where all the cars sold for a minimum of twice their 'value'.
