Doesnt this look a lovely place to wait for the RAC to arrive?

No, it doesn't. It looks horrible. I love it. I can't stop looking at the pound shop watches for children they use as instruments. Are these available with Mickey Mouse faces?

Or characters from Frozen?

I had to read this about 4 times and it still sounds deeply wrong. I gave up caring about pop music when I realised it wasn't being made for people like me, I think I've just had the same realisation about new cars.

This is a Fiat:

This is a Jeep:

(to scale, obvs.)

How the mighty have fallen...

I've been quite happy with DodgeChryslerFiatDaimlerMercedes with my Challenger. It's not the most fancy car, nor is it the most complex or well handling. It's a bit heavy by my standards, but no worse than a Focus Estate.

Feeding it 87 octane fuel it still runs like a top and will shred its tyres to bits. Bimbling along (it is possible to bimble in it) it'll return a UK MPG figure that isn't eye-watering for a 5.7 litre V8- 33 mpg.

You can fit 5 people in it, 4 in comfort, at least 3 dead bodies in the boot and still make it to the wedding on time because it's quite rapid.

It's even quite appealing to look at in my opinion. It's not so big that it would have been foolish to sell in the UK, either.

And the Chrysler 300C (2004-) is based on the W210 E-class! There, I said it!

Lee Iacocca would be spinning in his grave if it wasn't for the fact that he's still alive.

I can't think of anything nice to say about Chrysler, or american cars in general, so here's a picture of a cat brushing its teeth.

A PT Cruiser would be fine shite if it was pogweaseled beige, rear drive, solid axle and had that excellent pushrod 3.3V6 from the Voyager.

FCA doing well?

-The Alfa range is down to the Mito, Giulietta and 4C, out of which I see very few of the former two and none of the latter.

-Lancia (our Chryslers) is now Italy-only in Europe, and even then the Thema isn't their own car but a badge engineered 300C

-Fiat seem to be riding mainly on the 500 and its fugly variants - the Panda is pointless as it's in the same market as the 500, nobody buys Puntos, and there's a 500-branded crossover coming (good luck with that one)

Do Fiat still make car Doblos? I don't see many new Fiat vans, IIRC the current Doblo isn't very good?

There must be a lot of money in Jeep and Ram Trucks.

also: I just looked on the Ram website and in the US you can buy Ram-badged 2.4 litre Doblos and 3.6 litre Ducatos!

2014 profits globally were $716M but they lost $123M in Europe so as you say most profit is from the trucks.

Why at every large classic car show is there a line up of PT Cruisers? Often with american flags etc and air brushed paintings of red indians

just don`t get it

Would love to flatten them with a monster truck

I'd also flatten the monster truck - which are often seen covered in american flags, etc..

what would you do the flattening with, a Discovery?

The flags may have an argument for them can`t think of one though) but not all this red indian (native american)  crap. Its not like red indians would approve of the US motor industry and destruction of their homeland...... And they would surely hate PT cruisers :)

I'm hugely jealous. These are fantastic looking machines, they actually made a proper effort with the retro design. I'd love one.

I had a Caliber diesel for a couple of years. Competent enough although acres of plastic inside. Passat engined if I recall correctly. I really wanted an Avenger but couldn't afford one. Quite liked the Crossfire but it is a hairdressers car imho.

Sergio says the Fiat version of the new Mazda MX5 is going to be called the '124 Spider'....

 http://www.autoblog.com/2015/03/06/fiat-124-spider-mazda-mx5-miata-report/

Comments...

"The original 124 Spider comprehensively kicked the contemporary British roadsters crudely-engineered asses up and down the twisty, winding roads of the world, and arguably drove better than even the pricier Alfa Spiders. Sure, they rusted and blew head gaskets when less-than-properly maintained, just like most European cars of the era. But it's coming into it's own as a collector car, looks fantastic in pre-federalization small bumper trim, and remains the best selling American Fiat ever by a large margin. Sounds worth remembering to me."

Just to say that I say one of these on UK roads, with UK plates on it, just last week

http://www.fiat.at/at/freemont?status=0

Fiat Freemont

The styling is part old style BMW X5 and part Mitsubishi Outlander. And I don't even like 4x4s.

That is a Dodge Journey. Class - I think they should make a Lancia version for shits and giggles.

Just think, if Fiat had bought the remnants of MGR we could have Rover versions of Yipsilons/Delta/300s, plus a proper MG from the new MX5 platform (that would actually be worth doing).

I saw a Chrysler 300 badged as a Lancia the other day. Irritated me that they put that badge on something so ugly and shit.

Oh, I dunno... a Challenger 2? :-)

Re. the flags: I find any form of overt patriotism to be a bit icky. The native Indian artwork is definitely childish fantasy-world bullshit though, yeah.
