Another visa!!!!! What's the story behind the new purchase?

One of the three for sale on ebay and I am weak, the other two were 954cc petrols and I had one of those and it found hills where I had not noticed them before but I love the diesels that will run at 90mph plus if asked and do 50 mpg. I have no good reason to have it and if anybody else wants it then just ask me.

Just as I clicked on this the town emergency (fire / car smashes etc) siren started up. Were they trying to tell you something?

Those sirens were too late I pressed the bid button at 6.20 tonight!

You bought it as a spare in case your other one broke down?

MY bloody metro didn't sell :-(

I can't remember which Metro yours was, I am looking for a 1275cc manual only, I would prefer a 3 door early car with an MOT and running as its so expensive to get it home if I have to trailer it. My budget is around Ã‚£500 but not fixed, I could manage a couple of repairs but not a project car.

I have bid on a couple now but last night I know I was close because I bid Ã‚£555.55 and the winning bid was Ã‚£557.00! It was a latter 1275cc and 5 door but I do know for my budget I may have to compromise.

This was the car:

Why?   Just look at it in all it's skinny wheeled goodness.

I spoke to the seller this evening and he needs a bit of time to find the spares that go with it, so it might be next week before I take delivery.

I am afraid you are not going to get much of a collection story as the car is only 3 miles from my home and the seller has volunteered to collect me.

Mine is a 5 door vdp automatic with a slipping clutch so completely not what you want. This is autoshite though!

Sorry just not feeling the love, I like VP trim could put up with 5 door but not Autos in Mini and Metros.

I seem to be gaining an irrational love for this car. It seems to tick quite a few boxes for me, firstly being it's a small diesel of the late 80s that isn't a 205.

I have no reason to hang onto the Visa if somebody wants it who will take care of it and show it off from time to time, I am quite happy to pass it on for what it owes me currently £395 I have agreed to pay for it.

Collection Thread.

I was collected in an Xsara driven 3 miles, collected Visa drove home via Tesco where I bought some diesel and bacon.

Now more interesting the Visa came with its original Sales Invoice, I don’t think you will ever guess what car was traded in when it was bought new in Aug 1987. The car, a 4 door saloon was 1977R 94k worth £254.96?

Anybody know anything of the history of the garage?

The garage was:

Border Motor Co Ltd

High Street

Saltney

Chester

CH4 8SE

Most excellent to see you've ended up with this! How does it feel to own all the Visas in Buckingham?

From the internet I have been looking for Borders Garage Saltney, it looks like it is National Tyres now, was closed in 2012 and at some time been a Saab dealer?

Looks like the blue marker ran out of ink before they could finish one side.  What a charming little thing.
