I can haz Umm - it's a little broken

It's 7 o'clock on a Saturday morning and I'm standing at a bus stop. This means one thing, I am planning to return with another vehicle. This time it's further than I've been for a while and the vehicle is uglier than I've had before. I am off to Devon to collect the red Umm.
Transportation number 1, bus.

How much? £4.10 for a 50 minute bus ride, last time I caught this bus it was £3.

I am looking forward to the story unfolding.

I am not sure what your route is but if wanted/needed there is always tea, sympathy, use of tools and a garage in Buckingham.

I have arrived at the railway station. However the bacon sandwich I was planning to get from the cafe here will not be happening. The cafe is currently being converted into a Starbucks :(

I got the bus home on Thursday, it was £2 for 10 mins, abt 3 miles, so I think you got a bargain! GLWC!

To add to the disappointment of the morning the 1hr train journey to London has been replaced by a bus to Peterborough, so 45mins bus and 50 mins train. This could make my journey across London for my connection a little more stressful.

OMG!!  UMM??  LOL!

How many miles is the return journey?

Around 250 miles home, I am hoping 5hrs or so driving.

Amazing to think that faced with 250 miles in an UMM, the least reliable part of your journey today will be the train.

The coach has arrived and we are en route to Peterborough. Have a quick snap of the upholstery and reading material courtesy of brookjim:

A proper 'right from the start' collection thread, the way it should be! :-)

Not quite... no alarm clock, no cornflakes.....  Seriously, GLWT, hope it all goes smoothly!

Glad the Jalopy is coming in useful! Shame about the lack of bacon sarnie. I find They set you up for a shite collecting trip nicely.

Well the weather down here in Devon isnt quite as bright as your station shots but at least its dry at the mo. I was unsure how weatherproof the Umm is when you posted up stuff about making a tilt!!

Don't be afraid to shout if you end up needing owt.

Cheers for the offers of assistance chaps, fingers crossed I won't need it.

London Kings Cross arrival, I now have less than 1hr to get to Clapham Junction, fingers crossed I don't get stuck on a tube somewhere.

That was easy, Victoria line to Victoria then train straight Clapham junc. I am now starving and have 30 mins before what should be my last train of the day.

I am now on the train to Devon, next stop for me is Axminster station in approx 2.5hrs, where the seller of the vehicle is meeting me.

Have a picture of the train I am on:

Hopefully the next picture will contain an Umm in the wild.

I grew up in East Devon! Small world! Obviously I am biased but this area is truly the best part of the U.K!

I have just one hour more on this train before Umm.

You were off to a good start by being able to get a Saturday bus in this county.  Last time I tried it, I was told the first available bus would be on Monday morning.

Ooh, Axminster! (Insert relevant carpet based joke here). Just down the road is Seaton, home of my favourite miniature gauge tramway (used to drive them on my hols years ago) and also home of one of the best chippies in the UK.

Did you Umm and ahh over this purchase?

Hope it an "Aaaah!" on UMM collection and recovery, not an "AAAAAARGH!".

Whilst on the subject of fuel, the engine in the Umm is a Peugeot 2.5l TD. Does anyone what else that engine was used in, and if it's vegetarian?

I'm just off the M4 near Reading if you need tools, tea or sympathy. Good luck with the rest of your trip.

What am I saying?..it's an UMM, WCPGW?

Best chippie in Seaton is the one opposite the CO-Op carpark. Park in there and cross the road up an alley way towards the beach. Not the cheapest but they are award winning!
