It was the Kia had belt issues. It ran out of electricity right outside Brother Touring Towers and has been abandoned until tomorrow.

That's why there was a spare belt in the boot, I'm not convinced that it was the right size though (ECP standard, that's the bit the computer told me to give you)

In fact here's one of retrogeezer's photos of the convoy, Skattrd...

I tried a couple of pics holding my camera out of the window and it was nearly ripped out of my hand by the wind. :)

Very hard work, but coming down again was an absolute blast.

Yep, that's the one, I don't envy you being in a convoy round there, it must have been a nightmare coming across traffic coming the other way ... I almost took out the MX-5's near the top of that pic.

We had walkie talkies along the line which helped no end keeping folk in check

To be fair Chris, I was in the other convoy and with 9 of us we gave oncoming traffic little choice but to get the fuck out of the way and let us through. We didn't have any problems at all.

Posted

And a 52 plate astra learned what its like coming across 2 cortinas on a sharp bend...

Posted

we only came across cars a handful of times - I absolutely loved it.

Needs to be public for us not on your friends list

I got home at 10:20, two hours and fifty minutes of brisk driving after leaving Tebay.

It would have been rather awkward if we'd met another convoy but the odd cars we met coming the other way all managed to get out of the way and were mostly very patient.

I was at the back and they were all smiling when I went past. :)

Your right, that was short...

Yeh, I was seriously at risk of dropping the camera!

Huge thanks to everyone who let me have a pootle in their cars over the weekend- I was like a wean in a sweet shop:)

The 335 did about 13mpg sat night/sun morning. Happy days!

BRWAAAARP!

Sorry Beko, I was away all day. Had a BBQ at the beach ( well, Chasewater...) I have plenty of wheels, shame I wasn`t in the area

Did another 120 miles in Standard today, it drives better than ever

Utterly brilliant weekend chaps and it was great seeing old faces and new.

Arrived home at about 2215 having left the

Scottish convoy to soldier on with the poorly wee Volvo*. The Carisma covered around 720 miles at an average of 54mpg, with only one utterly bizarre FTP when it decided to go into limp home mode.

Thanks must go to Mat and Ian for getting us, the Hafod and the delightful Llangollen motor museum who weren't furious when we attempted to start various things in the campsite.

Thanks also to those who trusted us with their cars on the Autoshite hillclimb course and didn't go mental when me made a total arse of it (Sorry Edd!).

My boot is quite full, that's with the seats folded down too.

That's why I fitted the tow-bar right away, there's no way it would have fitted inside the car.

It was entertaining listening in on the SVM radio, I had my own walkie talkies... The best bit was Adrian radioing that we'd lost an Alto when I had to pull in after my throttle cable came loose. It was definitely the most organised convoy I've been a part of and the SVM were great at keeping everyone together.

The hoon route.

Anyone else notice the ATR strips across the road just uphill of the car park exit?  If DB and Cwmystwyth end up with a dual-carriageway link, we were never there, right...?
