The Travelodge people will be used to couples turning up in separate cars, but one already dressed for bed might be a new one for them

THE MIGHTY PRIDE HAS ACHIEVED SCOTLAND

But its still not on your car list... poor kia...

I made it back about 20 minutes ago, I'm mega impressed with the Cortina, 686 miles in the end and around £90 in fuel, fitting that 5 speed box has transformed the car.

Semi-C followed me all the way back in his Mk3 passion wagon which really made the trip, especially having this view in my mirror.

Whilst in that jam on the M6 some bloke asked if I'd sell the car!

Mega awesome weekend though, I has such a laugh and everyone is so friendly, I'll upload my photos tomorrow probably once I've recovered from 5 hours sat in wonky Mk3 seats.

I was absolutely chuffed to bits taking Semi-C's Cortina out, so much so that I drove it twice and then went out for a passenger ride in it with Joe. A nice MK3 is definitely on the list and once I've made a bit of room in the fleet I will actively be on the hunt for one!

Alpine got me home for 7pm, 4.5 hours constant driving. Well done car/ bladder.

Excellent fun all weekend, thanks to those who put time in to sort it all out. And thanks to everyone who trusted me with their cars, ticked an awful lot off the to drive list!

36.4 MPG not bad considering major hoonage today, will average out once journey home is added

Thank you Mat and Ian for all your efforts, and everyone else for coming. The people made the weekend, and I made some new friends.

(Ooooh field fwends...)

The range and quality* of vehicles to be seen and available for shared hoonage was (once again) utterly astounding. A big thanks once again, it's been emotional. :)

Mrs Beko went all the way from Thame to Hereford? My SWMBO would tell me to go swivel if I made a similar request.

SVM Central Division has arrived home. Great weekend lads. Looking forward to tomorrow off work to peruse the photos and videos.

Oh, yes, here's the route I did yesterday afternoon ...

post-4715-0-11717900-1433710588_thumb.jpg

I took a couple of the suggested scenic back roads (around the back of Lake Vyrnwy) which were very windy and tight in places, so not suitable to convoying. I also did a detour to Dolgellau, for not much reason, and stopped at the top of Clywedog reservoir, which was quite spectacular. I'll post a few pics in the thread when I sort them out.

So how many people actually made it home incident free? The Pride developed a deathsqueal upon arrival at Gretna and the council estate did something with it's fan belt immediately afterwards... Pleasure to meet you chaps! (Even if I didn't know who was who!)

I made it home with no problems at all. It took several minutes. Ok. It took one minute.

So technically im not home from sf yet...

The Aerodeck started fine all weekend ... except at about 13:00 today when JohnK wanted to take it for a spin.

The Rover ran shit loads better going home. I gave it even more of an Italian tune-up and the poke was there from the off, I'm hoping it's cured the splutteryness.

I take no responsibility for that fail to proceed*

Mercedes made it back with no chew at all, seems my intermittent coolant issue yesterday has resolved itself which is good and averaged about 30mpg.

My front number plate fell off in Reading services. Why it did it there at 10mph and not on the motorway, gawd knows. Or I should say plates, the ones who were taking the (metaphorical) piss in the field will know what i mean...

I led a convoy of 16 cars along that route and we didn't lose anyone

I don't blame you John, the finger is squarely pointed at the relay ;)

It was the Kia had belt issues. It ran out of electricity right outside Brother Touring Towers and has been abandoned until tomorrow.

Dave, did you do the route around the back of the lake? The first red text on the notes iirc, it was very tight and I almost took out  a VW Bora, Lotus Europa (new one) and 2x MX-5's ....

Posted

Actually, I didn't have a fail to proceed. My XM proved rather too keen to proceed, when it got all amorous with Garycox's 405. Sorry! Maybe I should do something about that handbrake after all. Also, an XM has ZERO braking ability if you leave it overnight so if the handbrake is shagged, and you've parked it on a hill, starting it proves very, very difficult.

The xsara made it back trouble free. The Welsh hills must have helped it alot. The hesitancy and erratic idle has buggered off and the engine feels less tight and more responsive.

Posted

Home after dropping off the Kia less sloth in a bowl. Got followed by some strange white sports car most of the way back, I think it was a sirocco prototype or something...

As ever a major event for me. Unbelievably camera taken but no photos got as I was too busy lapping up the atmosphere (and recovering from Wills vodka). Thank you to all who put me to bed on Friday.

Counting down the days to the next.

Yep. We followed your map but turned left before Mallwyd and took the single track road to Llanbrynmair and Llan. So we took all 16 cars right over the tight mountain pass, round the south end of Lake Vyrnwy to the wee village, parked up for about 45 mins or so then convoyed over the dam.
