Wish id gone for the pride, would have a backup car then...

Bugger. Will was heading over that way I think? Well, vaguely anyway. I've not got his number.

The plan at the moment...

Mr Catsinthewelder is 40 mins away and has tried to get some wheels. Thanks very much dude!

Amy is currently 3 miles from home pottering across. My mate, with his vrs has just left bristol, to intercept amy somewhere and basically toe it over to me.

Then I think ill spend the leftover money from sf on a slap up harvesfer for them both.

Or the 2 wheels and tyres will be fucked after sitting in the garden for 2 months... We shall see!

Just under 90 quid on fuel for the whole weekend, oooof!!!

30 in mine,316 mile......
Posted

I hope you're sorted and on your way now beko.

Stats for the big Rover were 696 miles in total with £110 done in fuel, which equates to about 30mpg I think. Was worth it for such a brilliant weekend, thanks Ian and Matt for all the organising! A++++ hosts, WUD RECKOMEND.

Edit: doing the calcs properly is 34mpg. That can't be right, I must be missing a fuel stop out somewhere...

Am home. MattLikesCars' Raleigh Stowaway rocks! "I has ridden yir bike!" Gears work fine but too tall for me to attemptthe hill up ffrom the Hafod - third (top) is very long. Comfortable and stable with good brakes too!

Many thanks to all attendees, and thanks for letting me drive your cars.

Tebay achieved.

Step away from the pies! Right NOW!

(Like it is actually possible)

I don't have a clue what my fuel mileage is but driving the Escort around the very quite Welsh hills on the way home was PHUN.

Your Escort is TEH SECKS.  It has wheel arches, FFS!  And I can't remember the last time I saw an 'Erica' with those intact...

Saab did 38mpg over 585 miles . Was 40 on the way up but I weakened on the way back and put ac on . Happy enough with that for a big lump of a car with cruise set at 80 most of the way

Super unleaded seems to make a huge difference on this car

Cheers Chase, I definitely found a good one but it's clearly going to bite me in the arse one day - it just has to. I've had it 6 years and done 7000 mile in it and all I have had to do in all that time is a breather hose, a water pump and 2 front brake hoses as the ferrules were rusty. Amazing.

Going to head to Gretna services soon SVM chaps so there will probably radio/text silence from me soon.

I got distracted from my planned route and went via Leominster. I was going to do the Brightwells Stondon auction but just drove past it in the end as couldn't be arsed. Not sure when it was due to start but at 11am the place didn't look mega busy.

Sale's on Wednesday. ;)

Ah, that'll be why then. They had something going on as I could see loads of autojumble type tables set up. Was a nice diversion anyway!

Posted

That'll be the car boot sale that's on there every Sunday morning.

Posted

As an aside, is anyone off here going to the sale on Wednesday? I wonder why they chose Brightwell's rather than Anglia Car Auctions or sommat as it's bloody miles away from Stondon.

I was hoping to, as some local friends are heading over, but I think I'll be on bus duty instead. Bother.
