Did you buy that Charidee Teepo??

yes, collection tomorrow ...

I'm still not decided on what to bring.

Options are currently between -

1) MK1 Sierra Ghia

2) Mercedes 190E

3) E23 728i

4) Rover 214

6) Volvo 760 (ideal choice as a sleeping wagon but I need to source a centre section first as it's blowing like a twat)

I'd be tempted to take the Rover to give it a thrash around some Welsh lanes, or the E23 for waftiness

E23 would cripple me in fuel costs but it would be a good way to travel ...

New tent erected in the garden this afternoon, a slight change of plan involving the fair lady barefoot wanting the Scirocco's convenient dog transporting abilities next weekend means that I will now be coming in the 944 of utter joy (and complete lack of any sort of forward movement style ability in a field).

...and it would look great next to my 300E...

Kids and missus have crippled me on holiday this week and payday isn't until the 10th!

I ran out of gas last year because I underestimated how much gas it would take to keep Shitefest in tea. I don't want to run out this year, I'd better check the gas meter.

That should be sufficient.

I need to get a few cans of those.

Ive been lent a petrol stove too, but cant get it to work so may not bring it, unless anhone knows how to use it in wbicb case ill bring it

Posted

My two cookers, the gas, a frying pan and kettle will be available for communal use.

Somebody will know how to work the petrol stove I'm sure.

BM are doing a festival kit for a fiver that contains cutlery, mess tins and a Hexamine stove in a handy bag. It was all I could do to not buy one.

Because I made a bit of breakfast last year and one doesn't want to get stuck in a groove, this year I will not be cooking, but I will be bringing my Kelly Kettle. A shit load of fun way to boil a few mug fulls of water. Please bring fir cones to use as fuel.

Posted

I suppose bringing a stove kettle & frying pan would be an idea ... plus tea, sugar, coffee etc.

I'll try to remember to pack the above.

Posted

I've spent most of the day cutting firewood, so will bring a reasonable amount with me. Weather forecast looking better through next week - aside from a few days it's only been scraping into double figures so far this year.

Weather forecast looking better through next week...

I have military grade poncho, bought especially for the event, consequently, the weather will be sub-tropical.

Bring it!

I shall be bringing the Optimus primus and a Tilley for night time lighting. Oh and paraffin. Must buy paraffin.

Posted

There's a petrol station a few miles up the road which still sells paraffin by the litre...

Matures with age, and at about ten years old drinks really smoothly.

I think I have a gallon of paraffin in the shed, does it keep?

Easy way to find out .... try and burn it.

Posted

I'll try setting fire to some tomorrow and if it burns I'll bring it along.

It's more than 15 years old so it should be lovely by now.

Basically unrefined jet fuel but more refined than diesel. Keeps for ever and burns with a sooty yellow flame. Very good for washing crud off oily engine parts.

Can I just say that I am really quite looking forward to meeting up with you, you sad bunch of fuckers again.

Last year was fun, and this year should be better still.

By 4pm on friday hopefully. Meeting people for our little convoy at j10 services on the m40 so hopefully we will still make it on time if we get lost.

Anyone knkw what signal 3 gets where we are going?

Sorry, I have been away. I haven't tried it actually at the museum, but was getting good 3 coverage in Llangollen. Last year, the mast in Devil's Bridge was tuned into the 3 network. This is a good thing and 3G works from the hotel car park (but not so much inside the hotel).

Sweet!

Really looking forward to this now. Amy bought me 4 gas cannisters today so ill add those to the communal pot if needed!

May also be borrowing a jump pack primarily to charge my phone if needed but also so its with us and handy if needed...

Sooo, if I get to the hafod camping field at dinner time ish , will anyone be there ?

Posted

It's looking more and more likely that I'll be doing this now, everyone i was going to the Cortina day show with are starting to drop out and I can't really afford to spent £250+ just on a weekend.

I'll be in the Starlet though which is a bit naff but it's better than nothing.

Hard to say. Some of us are driving down from Llangollen, with no firm idea of departure time really. Others will probably drift towards the area during the afternoon. Hotel will be open and they won't have a problem with folk arriving early. The gathering will be on the main car park, which is up the hill towards Cwmystwyth if you're in front of the hotel.
