Going to look at new car tomorrow.

After looking around, doing a stupid amount of over time for the last couple of months and having lack of space and not really needing another car.

I am going to Essex to look at a true 80's/90's hairdressers car from its spiritual home.

I will leave you to use your imagination and internet search engines to guess.

If it's not as rotten as a pear or in proper shit state I will probably get it!

Pogweasel red?

I'm an ex paint sprayer.

So it's never going to be pogweasel red!!!

I was considering a Peugeot amongst others.

A Capri no.

Not an XR2i and an RS Turbo out of my league.

Its got to be a Ford from Essex.

Well the majority of you were mostly right it was indeed a floppy top Escort in Red.

Had a good look around it, it was a good 20 feet car.

Although the seller had been very honest in his description I felt it still needed more work than I really wanted and our prices were out by a bit.

Had a loud exhaust which would have to go and the roof needed replacing, it just felt a little messed around with by a few 'enthusiasts'

Still I will keep looking and will find something.

Here it is. on Gumtree.

Looks like a 90' spec EFi version. It appears to have gained some side skirts that could be hiding a multitude of sins, but that aside it looks very original.

I prefer the 88' spec MFI cars, and the money is in the hatchbacks these days. Would love one in Mercury Grey in completely standard form.

Because the money is in the hatch backs is the reason I'm looking at a Cab'

They seem to be at a low at the moment and avoiding OSF scene tax.

I like the efi cars, mong tax has skimmed past these, mk4 escort cabs all pretty much end up the same way though, rs turbo bodykit and rs turbo engine

The reason the popularity premium hasn't hit these is these were never any good and the Ford folks know it.

Same as the VW brigade ignore Golf Cabrios, and Peugeot fondlers ignore the 205 CTi.

If The asking prices of these does go up it'll be scene tax opportunistic hopefulness rather than the popularity premium enjoyed by Mk2 Escorts etc.
