garbaldy Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 Another shite hawk spanner in my fleet reduction, This time I agreed to take on a motor on the strength of this pic so here's hoping it's better than it looks. Cavcraft and cort16 2
garbaldy Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 Does anyone want this car.Ultra clean interior,Low mileage.Australian service history. oldcars 1
Cavcraft Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 It looks like a Mk1 Megane, a BMW 1 series and a late model MG ZR, all at the same time. dieselassist, tooSavvy, Vince70 and 3 others 6
cort16 Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I have to say I think these are a pretty neat design. Every single one I've seen for sale has the sweaty arse marks on the seats although your one looks like a fox has died in there.MOT'd until November. What price is it?
Bren Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Looks like the interior is made of bakelite. Cavcraft 1
garbaldy Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 Now I'm back home I can give a description,The car started and drove to the yard I stopped it to take the pics then it wouldn't start again, a few mins later it fired up with the engine management light now flashing, I shall pop over with the code reader and see what it shows,£80 quid if anyone wants to gamble with it.
garbaldy Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 I'm pretty sure it doesn't have LPG,The spare wheel well is definitely full of wheel,
tooSavvy Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Ahhh.... Having recently offloaded a Pr*ton meesell.... I'm entirely comfortable with other people spending on these FlipFlopHotShoe wannabeez..... My F*T ARS* currently being shufferred around in another product 'from way, wayy, over the horizon' I will reserve judgement... *My 8/- would be lodged on a 'last bid' "...J Reg" snipe M8 TS
tooSavvy Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 That handbrake design is a bit excessive. Are these THAT shit...? Like any self respecting shiter I have an eBay followed search for any and every Proton and these pop up for peanuts all the time - even in seemingly mint condition and next to no miles. Anyone ever owned/driven one for any length of time? several persons on..... POC-UK. * LPG is V Good!! TS
garbaldy Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 Looks like scrap is still on its arse. tooSavvy 1
tooSavvy Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 F*CK.... £5 more than WBAC on my 57 Savv.... TS
Jim Bell Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I think that looks pretty cool. Interested in what the code reader says.
RoadworkUK Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I think these are really appealling looking things. Pretty dire to live with, by all accounts. The cold, limp McDonalds Fries of the motoring world. It actually turns me on to think that they're completely worthless. Extinction looms.
garbaldy Posted September 26, 2016 Author Posted September 26, 2016 I legged it home from work as I was so excited to go and play with the proton unfortunately the misses had the tea ready, damn you wifey, I wolfed my beef and Yorkshires down with gusto infact I don't think it touched the sides, then I ran out the door like I had a fire in my boxers and hot footed it over to the yard. I plugged the yellow box of doom into the car and awaited the outcome like an expectant father, that's not to bad maybe a set of plugs or leads will sort it after all. Ah right maybe not new plugs and leads by the look of it. I took the compression tester and stuffed it into number wan first then number two. The results Then three and finally to keep the suspense going number four, I cleared the fault code. Then I ran it upto temp and it never came back on although I expect it may well do under load, I might try and take it for a spin round the block. stephen01, CGSB, The Moog and 4 others 7
cms206 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Tempting in a sort of terrifying way. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
garbaldy Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Tempting in a sort of terrifying way. well its definitely cleaner than the cavalier although that wouldn't be hard as this one didn't come from a chimney sweep. cms206 1
garbaldy Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 Well i hate doing this but sometimes its the last straw, i robbed the tyres and its now binned what else can you do if selling just doesn't happen. also stripped lights and bumper of the van so its away too.
garbaldy Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Picked up the second 206 and this ones a quicksilver, As it didn't sell on the tree of bums I decided that it shall be harvested for the other 206 which is an hdi,Part of the deal on this free car was the stupid blingy 17in alloys had to go back and to be honest they where proper shit anyway. Engine gunge indicates omg hgf Nice Interiors in these quicksilvers with minimal wear. Boot comes with spares tooStripped of the wing lights and bonnet for the other one and stacked it,It's amazing how strong the roof rack is on the van.
Lankytim Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Gearboxes on those 16v 206's go for £100 ish on the bay if you can be arsed removing it.
Split_Pin Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Another interesting update, shame the Gen 2 was too shite even for here. I like these and at the price you were asking I would have given it a shot if I hadn't already bought my winter beater by that time.
Lord Sterling Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Shit! I should've been faster on the Gen-2, for £80 ffs! Arse. oldcars and Cavcraft 2
garbaldy Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 Here's the other 206 I bagged complete with mot fail sheet,It failed on split dust cover and back brake pipe insecure,I stuck a new rubber on the ball joint and when the last garage had changed the rear axle they hadn't bolted the brake pipe mount back on, this was easily sorted with a bolt and chucked back in for mot which it promptly failed cockstick.Anyway onto the pics of this prime French transportation,Dirty bit,Even dirtier bit. The second fail was rear numberplate light and tank strap, six minutes on the lift a new strap fabricated and a new bulb then back to the garage for a clean sheet. DeeJay, Jim Bell, The Moog and 1 other 4
stephen01 Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Stripped of the wing lights and bonnet for the other one and stacked it,It's amazing how strong the roof rack is on the van. IMG_20161119_151704173_HDR.jpg Is that mg in the breakers yard?
garbaldy Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 Its not a breakers yard and the container space was required for other motors so both mgbs got relocated outside,They are not scrap and hopefully will be back under cover asap. Both are restoration projects and could be available to buy if anyone wants them. stephen01 1
Jim Bell Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 That 206 looks bonny. Forgive my ignorance, us it a 1.9 or 1.4?
garbaldy Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 It's the more powerful 1.4 of much cheep taxness
Jim Bell Posted December 6, 2016 Posted December 6, 2016 Ive always wanted one of them. They run on air, theyre peanuts to tax and buttons to insure. Great town car I bet. An auld girl at work has one and says she went to london and and back at 50mph on £25 worth of diesel.
