@Andyrew visited this afternoon and said he would fix something for me so I gave him a list 3 pages long!

He choose my Morris 1300 which had started to misfire again, particularly after roundabouts. We cleaned the float chamber which was not bad, topped up the damper oil. Put in new plugs, HT leads and cleaned the points. It is great to win sometimes, not one misfire now.

A Series 1 manual estate with a 2.5 PI engine is absolute peak Triumph 2000 for me.  (Unless we start getting into Stag engine conversions of course.)

Yesterday morning the S1 Sovereign got a trip out to a local gathering but the car park was full so I parked in the road. A group member took this picture and it was used in the title shot of a 3 minute video of the event.

That's weird! Watched an edition of the Hotel Inspector last night where Alex revisited The Dukes, did wonder if it was near you!

We've always called it the Pukes after some unpleasant experiences there involving hygiene and terrible service 🤣

Chris @Six-cylinder, did @Slowsilver get the Maxi handbook?

Yes I did but wasn't sure who had kindly left it for me. Thank you.

Today @Andyrew came over for a coffee and as usual I was in a better position by the time he left.

First he fitted a battery to the Mercedes E320 Coupe I had, as the original one failed over the weekend.

Then we went to storage to try and open the bonnet on the Renault 4 that has defeated me for 3 months. Andyrew performed the Heimlich Manoeuvre on the Renault and the bonnet popped open! Well not quite he just identified which knob opened the bonnet and which one adjusted the heater air direction!

Today was the first move to get the Sigma back on the road.

The first cylinder head is off and shows no catastrophic damage.

Next week the mech will come back and lift the other head, fingers crossed.

Oof, at least you can see where it's leaked pretty clearly.  I'd say likely the head was warped but know you had them checked.  Worth making absolutely sure the block is flat before anything goes back together.

Let's hope it was just something daft but annoying like a flake of rust that settled in the wrong spot while it was being assembled that was responsible for it not sealing properly.

I have never previously had the heads off. The problem stems from a rubber hose that runs cooling water through the oil filter housing leaking. Unfortunately I was on the A41 dual carriageway and by the time the temp gauge told me there was something wrong I still had 2/3 mile to get to a safe place to stop as there is no hard shoulder. The AA man put a hose on, but it was pumping water out of the header tank.

Oh, my bad then.  I had in my head that this car had already had head gasket issues so they'd already been off.  Ignore me then!  Hopefully it will all be good with everything cleaned up, light skim if needed and fresh gaskets.

Today the Morris 1300 has been my car of choice and it is delightful to drive.

I have just topped the fuel tank after 183 miles and found it is doing 32.4 mpg.
