I have cut the 156 free from the hedge today and driven it onto my drive, the bumper has some damage but is still usable. I have looked at the door again today and the B and C post look undamaged so I have just gratefully accepted an offer of a free door on FB Alfabook group, which I am due to collect on Saturday.

 

In a twist of fate today I lent and fitted a battery to the offending Focus because it is needed tomorrow and the battery is dead. It was the dead battery that led to this unfortunate incident.

In other news my BMW 735i has been lent out for the summer car show season to a Lady who has a head gasket problem with her V12 750i. This will be much better for the car than the two times I am likely to use it over the summer and I know it will come back a better car!

 

I had to collect it from its barn storage and found the cover had blow off it and it looked like a 25 year barn find, it had only been there 2 months. The delight on my friends face that she was going to be able to make such a difference when I handed over such a dirty car was a picture!

About 80 feet but there drive is quite steep as it enters the road.

 

The better news is I collected a good door for it yesterday, so hopefully it will fitted this coming week and I can use the 156 again. That still leaves the back bumper to replace but the damage to that will not prevent the car from being used. Our C15 van got a trip out partly because the door would fit easily and partly because it does 50 mpg!

I think you are right but the paint is crazed at the worst bit, so I it will be cheaper to change it that paint the one I have.

I love the variety of cars you own and thanks for keeping us up-to-date with them. If I had more time, space and money I would have a collection just like yours! Must be nice to be able to have a choice of what to drive each day. I have this to a smaller degree with my cars. I think it's nice to have the variety and comparison between each other and to plan what work to do on each one.

It is great have a variety of cars and I know I am very lucky at the moment to do this, currently there are nine at home that taxed, MOTed and insured. This morning I have driven three, 2CV, BMW E36 328i Sport and Metro 114 Sli. I just like all cars fast-slow, low value-high value.

Strange things happen in the sunshine! I went to show my neighbour why I needed to replace the rear bumper on the 156 yesterday and found most of the dent had popped out in the sun. The paint is still crazed so I will still change it because this will be cheaper than repainting the original one.

Leave it in the sun later this week ( allegedly). Paint might repair itself too!

My Chrysler got damaged in a nasty hailstorm on the way to holiday a few years ago , the roof and bonnet looked awful and I was preparing for an insurance claim when I got home.

But, 2 weeks in blazing 40 degree sunshine and most of the dents healed, pretty much all of the roof and the ones on the ally bonnet faded a bit. So much so I ever bothered and nobody noticed unless I pointed them out.

I took my 2CV over to my favourite garage today who are going to get it MOTed for me, I parked it next to my friends Renault 4 which looks a cartoon car as it has its engine/gearbox out due to a clutch problem!

 

My favourite garage also have the MG Metro and they have now fitted the front panel.

 

Taxed my MX5 MK1 today as the weather forecast looks good for the next week.

Have you considered the savings to be made by having your own garage/workshops, on the rare days that you have nothing that needs fixing your staff could always work on other cars.

 

I was going to say that the back bumper of the Alfa would biff out with a well placed slap but you didn't even have to get your hand dirty.

I wish I could have my own fully manned restoration workshop but just can't afford even one man in a shed.

The replacement rear door has been fitted to the 156 but things did not go well, first my friend knocked it over and put 4 small dings in it and then it turns out to be a different shade of silver. At least the car is back on the road.

The Auto Electrician had another go at fixing my red CX today but still no go. We now have power to the coil/ignition module but still no spark.

 

Another car that lost its cover in storage. The good news is the Maserati Bi-Turbo started on the button after its winter lay up and is ready to take for MOT when the 2CV is done.

Sorry to disappoint but it is just a 500 V8 only 330 bhp. It is in full working order, just I have not got room for it at home at the moment so I have put it in storage for a while.

Typical Citroen, I have the same sort of woes here on the Safari. Today I had power to a bulb holder and a tested working bulb but the two refuse to talk to each other in an absolutely baffling, un-enlightening way.
