Six-cylinder Posted September 25 Author Posted September 25 Yesterday @Slowsilver and his friend Thomas came over this afternoon. The plan was to get the Triumph Toledo going and ready to leave me. It started with a jump and we drove it up and down the farm yard which freed up the n-s front sticky brake. We parked the Toledo to the front of Storage so it is ready for collection now. The problem was there were 6 cars in the way. Citroen DS - started right up and drove out of the way Daimler Sovereign S1 - started right up and drove out of the way Citroen Ami 8 - started right up and drove out of the way Citroen Xantia – Needed jump pack but then started right up. Lancia Gamma - Needed jump pack but then started right up. Then it run rough and stalled and would not restart without another jump. Lancia Trevi – The starter will not turn so non-starter, needed pushing. IronStar, Floatylight, RayMK and 11 others 14
Six-cylinder Posted September 25 Author Posted September 25 Today the plan was to get the MG Metro out of storage after a year so @Zelandeth could take it to BL day at Milton Keynes Museum on Sunday. After a lot of churning it would not fire so we guessed it was turning over too slow to draw up petrol. A drop of easystart and it was running. Trouble is it is dripping petrol from the lower part of the carburettor right over the exhaust manifold. Zel is going to order the carb seals and we will try again, but it won't be before the BL show. Random find parked on the street on the way to the Metro was a 1934 Austin 7. At the garages we met the owner of a very lovely MR2 who was fascinated by Zel's Trabant. Brigsy, richardmorris, worldofceri and 6 others 9

It actually looks like it may have been weeping for a while based on the residue there. Plus I need to pull the bottom plate off the float chamber to clean the needle valve out anyway because of how it's laid out. Given I need to pull that off I'm just going to replace the needle/seat and that O-ring with ones that I know are ethanol safe, may as well while I'm in there then we know it's been done. Parts have all been ordered. Why do I get a feeling that I'm going to end up doing battle with the starter on the Trevi...not as though I have History with that car or anything... beko1987, Mrs6C and Six-cylinder 1 1 1
Six-cylinder Posted September 26 Author Posted September 26 Nothing really happened so no reason to post, but Morris has been the car of choice today and I have been really enjoying it just doing local stuff. The first photo was taken because the hotel for lunch has a number plate registration entry to stop you being fined and I can never remember my reg numbers. The second photo at home was little and large. And yes I choose the Morris over a very nice Range Rover as todays car of choice. LightBulbFun, vtec-e, catsinthewelder and 9 others 12

I picked up a few bits for the P4 as well while I was putting an order in anyway as I'm sure I'll need to go through the carb at some point. Six-cylinder 1
Six-cylinder Posted Monday at 21:37 Author Posted Monday at 21:37 Saturday morning was the monthly breakfast meeting at the The Dukes at Heath and Reach. 4 Bentleys were present, luckily I took the Rolls Royce! Then the fire engine arrived in case they burn the toast! Who called a taxi! Shite Ron, Dyslexic Viking, Joey spud and 4 others 7
Six-cylinder Posted Monday at 21:59 Author Posted Monday at 21:59 Saturday afternoon was a local classic car meeting at Café Belge near Beachampton. A good turnout and a good mix of cars. One more meeting at the end of October subject to weather as the meeting is on grass. Dyslexic Viking, Shite Ron, richardmorris and 7 others 10
Six-cylinder Posted Tuesday at 17:29 Author Posted Tuesday at 17:29 Sunday was the BL Day at Milton Keynes Museum. I took my Morris 1300 and the plan was Zel would take the Metro but it has a fuel leak from the carburettor so didn’t make it. A great turnout considering it started off as a wet morning and the risk to BL cars. 3 Allegro Equies were lined up together. If you posed by somebody else's car would you choose a Reliant 3 wheeler! The arial photo is stolen from FB as it is such a great shot. vtec-e, Wibble, RayMK and 7 others 10
Six-cylinder Posted Tuesday at 17:49 Author Posted Tuesday at 17:49 Last night my fiend Colin offered to pop on my new wheels on my Mini Mayfair. They are the Exactons first used on the 20 anniversary Minis and then available as an Austin Rover accessory for 10 inch wheel Mayfair's. It got dark at 7pm which is why there are no photos with all the wheels on, but they were done by torch light . Sunday morning is Milton Keynes Mini group meeting. Zelandeth Posted Tuesday at 17:55 Posted Tuesday at 17:55 I'm really surprised at the turnout! I figured it was likely to be a total washout given it was absolutely hammering it down when I looked. Be good to see the Mini back out and about. Those wheels do suit it I think. LightBulbFun and Six-cylinder 2
Christine Posted Tuesday at 18:24 Posted Tuesday at 18:24 I finished Mini motoring with the mk2 .. I know later Minis had 12 " and really late ones went 13" to go over bigger brakes , So were the rear radius arms made longer , or did the tyre profile just go lower so that the actual size was the same diameter as the 145 80 10 ? There wasn't a great deal of clearance to start with ..

Six-cylinder Posted Friday at 20:22 Author Posted Friday at 20:22 Our C15 van was collected today after some welding to the n-s sill, service and MOT. The comment I got from @ianbmw who was driving it was "It plods along quite nicely", I think it is too much time driving an old Land Rover has clouded his judgement. Glad it's welded up, but I don't think those wheels suit it. Just MHO

Just MHO 14 inch Peugeot wheels and covers came with it over 10 years ago, so I guess if we haven't changed them yet we never will. I believe these were the standard 13 inch wheels for a Club which look very plain. High Jetter 1

Owned both and, tbf, the C15 was much better than the LRs - especially in fuel consumption and driver comforts* Vinyl seats were a bit sweaty in the summer but the wee thing handled 20,000 miles a year very well.

Six-cylinder Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago Friday evening was Milton Keynes Classic Car Club final evening event for the winter and they will now move to Sunday breakfast meetings. Wet and windy severely limited attendance in spite of having plenty of indoor space. One new member took no chances and bought her splendid classic Land Rover. The plan was to take my Morris but in the end I took the Seicento for twin speed wipers and a heated rear window! GoGently 1

Six-cylinder Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago Saturday morning was MK Modern Classics breakfast meet at Ridgemont. Less than summer numbers but still a good mixture. A tasty egg, beacon and sausage breakfast roll and coffee for £6 buys my loyalty. The group title says "Modern" but my Rolls Royce is not even 100 years old so I took that!
Six-cylinder Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago Today was Milton Keynes Minis Breakfast meeting, 5 classic Minis attended including mine. My friend Colin has a problem with two tyres loosing pressure on his Mini van, leaking so badly this morning 10 miles and one was flat and the other 5 psi. He borrowed my spare wheel and then we nipped home to get my tyre pump. My Mini then mis fired on the way back to the farm shop, stalling, running like a crap and Colin said he could smell petrol. We checked it over but could not find anything wrong. I decided to limp it back and set off having trouble keeping it running. 1 mile up the road it came back to life, idling cleanly with no hint of a problem. It is just the worry now, next time I use it will it behave.
Six-cylinder Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago This is something I have wanted to do since I have had my Classic Mini, simply photograph my Rolls Royce and Mini together. You would think it is easy as I own both cars, but the Mini has taken a long time to get road worthy and the Rolls Royce hides away. When I popped home in the Mini to collect a tyre pump the Rolls Royce was there so a snapped a couple of quick photos. Could do with a bit more time spent with a better camera. richardmorris, Stinkwheel, Vantman and 2 others 5
