Great to see some familiar faces too. Faves of the day? A white Austin Montego estate with the 7 bitter chocolate seats. Inexplicably I don’t have a photo, but @quicksilverwas taking some so hope to see his later in the week. Here you go. Apparently it's the oldest Montego estate left on the road. Also, this happened. Now you see an orange Mini... ...and now it's turned into a blue Mini! It was a great day with much better weather than forecast. Good to meet up with so many other shiters too. BorniteIdentity Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 We met that Blue Mini just by the gate. I was rather glad to leave before he parked up; his vehicle only amplifying the shonkyness of mine to unnecessarily high levels! Sudsprint and richardmorris 2
quicksilver Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Some carts. Seems an impolite way to describe the R8s, but that's what the sign says The green one is chassis number 1, ex Gaydon. All ur Maxis are belong to us. There are 14 here and a 15th turned up later after a breakdown, breaking the previous record of 12. Including the most famous Maxi of them all, the one and only Puff the Magic Wagon I voted for this as my favourite, simply because I've never seen a Ledbury Maestro van before. BorniteIdentity Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 I did see a "BIG YELLOW FAIL VAN" stalking the Rover R8 stand. I didn't pay too much attention - not wanting to tempt fate ahead of my 30 mile journey home! I think we ought to make a more concerted effort to get more AS/6Cyl cars at the event next year! flat4alfa Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 The car? It’s red, seized in a few places and has the rears of its sills through. But otherwise, well worth a save, was Zeibarted from new so all the other bits are still clinging on home and look very tidy. Has PAS, no Bader and no sunroof. Clearly been looked after in its early and mid life by a fussy fella; interior clean and smells of a dry life away from weather extremes. Stainless ‘zorst bonus too Will get it on the road and looking spanking. Then p/x it against a S1 Daimler Sovereign with Webasto, because one can have too many Sovereigns. Probably. ? The Moog 1

Zelandeth Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Thanks so much to Six-Cylinder for letting me take the MGB there. It's about 15 years since I last drove one and to be honest it's a lot better than I remembered. I think the fact that I have actually had my license for more than a year now probably has something to do with it! [] Comfy: Check (once you're in...there's no dignified solution to entry and egress in the GT). [] Sounds good: Check. [] Proper gearchange: Check. [] Rides nice: Check. [] Looks good: Check. British Racing Green is the only colour on my wishlist other than Snapdragon Yellow. [] Communicates in proper old car talk: Check. Only hiccup during the trip was one missed second gear on the second junction while I was fumbling for the windscreen wiper switch, after that we got along just fine. She's a car I'd very happily do a lot of miles in. Only bad part of the day was having to give the keys back. Definitely a car that's on the eventual shopping list again now. If she ever winds up looking for a new home (which I reckon is extremely unlikely!) I'd definitely be interested in having a conversation. Even though I have minus one spare slots currently... These photos are pretty much straight off my phone save for a bit of cropping. I took over two hundred...so suffice to say I'm keeping it to a handful of them. The best colour. Maxis really are *strange* looking cars aren't they...effective though. Really need to get a shot properly behind the wheel of on one day. Been a passenger in the back of my Granddad's one decades ago but haven't ever driven one on the road. These are such odd looking cars... That's probably enough with the photos I think! Thanks for Six-Cylinder for letting me play a part in getting the MG there. Surprised that it was the only one there (well...there was a second one but it vanished the moment the rain started...) as well. Skizzer, BL Bloke, MorrisItalSLX and 7 others 10

Six-cylinder Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 Is anybody going to Bicester Scramble Sunday 6th October? I am booked on the Triumph Sports Six Club stand with my Vitesse. I am hopeful the Vitesse will make it as I collected the rebuilt radiator today and took it to my favourite garage to fit, finish the service and the non MOT check over. Six-cylinder Posted October 2, 2019 Author Posted October 2, 2019 A few bits have arrived Non pressure caps for the cooling systems on the Sovereigns as they both leek. VP1500 oil switch as sometimes the light does not come on when ignition switched on and engine not running. Steering coupling, rack to column for LNA because it is wayward and checking every thing else has not revealed anything. The Vitesse is home freshly serviced and minus its misfire. Turns out the misfire were the Bosch plugs I fitted, with one being very sooty. I have often fitted Bosch and previously not found a problem but my garage tell me when they banger raced Triumph 2000s Bosch often played up so they fitted NGK, which they have done to my car now. I had a little ride round in the late afternoon sunshine and it seems to run well. LightBulbFun, chaseracer, wuvvum and 5 others 8
