Just spotted this on Hot UK Deals. Sold by Amazon. They seem to be a minimum of £50 elsewhere.

Weirdly cant post a direct link, but you should be able to add via the link above.

Thought it may be of use to someone, especially as its a low profile one.

Cheers

Blimey, that's good! I've just ordered one, as my bright yellow JCB one has been dying for weeks! Mind you, as i use it almost continuously and it's not really a "professional" one I can't complain...

I'll report once it turns up!

Xr2 forum says I am banned due to ip being spammer !

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered one too.

Delivery expected 26th Feb so clearly on a slow boat from somewhere.

Guess we will just have to see what happens.

Sorry lads, i can't do these usually Chinese or Indian things, to me the trolley jack is the most important investment tool in your garage, your life and limbs depend on it not failing, nor a jacking point slipping off that eggcup sized ball lifting point even if it doesn't actually fail.

I bought a pro jack around 30 years ago,  used extensively and its still giving good service in semi retirement with my son who only uses it once in a blue moon, he's not a shiter.

Treated meself to a new Weber pro jack couple of years ago, OK it was nearly £300, but my legs hands feet etc are worth more than that, Christs sake youngsters piss £100 up the wall on a night out and think nothing of it.

Lowering mechanisms also let cheap jacks down, the screw in out valve on cheaper stuff simply isn't infinitely controllable like a pro jacks eccentric lever will be.

Its not a spam, its incorrectly priced, I ordered a few Hika cabinets and the same jack a few weeks back (as did about 30 people on the Performance Bikes forum, all of us received emails in the next few days cancelling the order due to incorrect pricing, I don't think the funds actually left my account..... <_<

Bugger. Gone back up to £48. Needed one of them also.

Amazon just cancelled my order. Didn't say until after they shipped the other item I ordered the sneaky bastards!

Thats bang out of order.......

Mines cancelled as well, barstewards.

I always thought if something was advertised at a price and u committed to buying it at that price, they were obliged to honour that, regardless of whether it was

No they can refuse it. Same as shops can too.

In that case.....Bugger!

I only want it for keep-in-the-garage occasional wheel-change duty. Nothing heavy. If it saves me from dicking about with bendy use-once-and-bin factory keep-fit jacks it'll have done its job.

Posted

Ordered on the ' off chance'. If it happens great, if not, where's the loss?

Thanks

I too ordered one, if it turns up fine, if not I'll get by. Like they say if it seems too good to be true it usually is.

Posted

Ditto, ordered one as it will be better than my bottle jack to keep up at the caravan for wheel changing and other jobs.

If it arrives fine, if not well - meh.

Shops can not change the price once agreed but they are under no obligation to sell you anything if they don't want to. Amazon is the same I would have thought.

I've used one of these - the hinge mechanism will last a couple of months, the connector between the top and the piston is a U shaped clip which expands the more you use it, and then just comes off. There's nothing like jacking something up and having the U-clip come off x 100 times, and then having to spend 10 minutes closing it and putting it back on. The tony circlips also come off the ends of the rods holding the whole mechanism together. I have four of these in the corner of my garage, all broken. :(

It's the same as the Halfords 'top of the range' jack.

Spend £50 on a second hand one of these, they never break:

Problem with these smaller trolley jacks is that the saddles are way to small. As they don't really spread the load, the car is not as stable, and the small saddle can dig into your car.

I have a SIP pro trolley jack which I bought about 15 years ago. I was fed up with the cheaper ones constantly breaking and not lifting heavy loads. It has a huge saddle with a rubber puck and as a result lifts most loads squarely and confidently. A world of difference to the Halfords type ones. No way would I trust one of those to lift the Alfa which is a very nose heavy car and pigs out at 1800Kg.

A real good investment if you do a lot of spannering. Spares are available for these types of jacks also.

I tend to put a chunk of flat wood between the cup and the vehicle body / suspension arm whatever,

am I risking a fate worse than death by doing that?

It has never slipped off so far, and I usually chock

some wheels once up, as well, but I don't spend my life under a vehicle (by choice!!) as it's usually just

for wheel or brake maintenance...   but thanks for the warnings on this cheapo jack shit product  :(

Gordonbennet makes some good points but please please tell me that no one here would be stupid enough to get under a car that is only supported by a hydraulic Jack.

Cheap jacks worry me.   I use a Clarks Strong Arm which I have had for getting on 15 years, used at least weekly for the past 10 or so.  Its taken some abuse such as moving a Mini body shell around.   I still don't even think about getting under the car without stands, I even hate that 5 seconds or so it takes to get the stands in place.  Maybe I shouldn't have ever watched that scene in Long Good Friday with the VX4/90.....By far the most damage I have done with it though is drop the bastard on my toe - that's when I wished it was a £7 Rolson.

Whatever I use to jack a car, regardless of combination of axle stands jacks and so on, I put an extra support, normally a wheel with a few large bits of wood on it so that if anything goes wrong - even a securely placed stand - it will land on that not me.  That way I just have underwear to wash, nothing worse.

Where I work I have access to a pit in a huge shed I use (weird story) and that has to be the way to go with car maintenance.

My old halfords jack bit the dust a few months ago...cup seal went. Couldn't get another for love nor money. So I'm thinking of getting a new one from Machine Mart, asked in branch and they say they supply all the spare parts and an overhaul kit.
