1987 Renault 9 Turbo - My Latest Acquisition!

Hey all,

Did a deal on this lovely car the other evening, picking it up in two weeks time!

Its done less than 100k, pretty comprehensive history, and was even shed of the week in 2008! It needs one door, and some repair behind one of the rear arches but on the whole a very saucy little motor!

Enjoy!

I had one of those, back in about 2007.  Great little bit of kit.  Mine was black, but the interior was identical to yours.  I dragged it home from Northamptonshire behind a 1981 Carlton auto estate, which took a while.

That's great. Keeping it stock or a cheeky increase in boost?

The engine had an overhaul in 2008, and has done little mileage since. I'll be adding a bigger turbo, front mount (behind the bumper), stage 2 carb, and running around 15-18 psi (170-200hp), i'll get some nice shocks and springs on it and get some 4pots that fit behind the standard wheels!

NICE! That fits well into your fleet, much history with it?

A set of serck-a-like number plates would set it off a treat.

A fair chunk of history i'll see it all when I pick it up, mileage is legit with mots to back it up. I'll be fitting some period plates after ive taken it to france (theres a 30th anniversary of the GT Turbo run!)

ooooffffffff

hope the grot aint too scary

WOULD

Nah the door i'll be able to replace with some luck, the rot behind the arch is getting cut out new panel welded in, it helps when you know a good fabricator!

This is gonna become my daily for a while, I now work in London so don't drive much anymore so will just keep this taxed!

Love that, know these cars very well (non turbo ones anyway). Great little Q car!

Looking forward to improvements!

Actually gutted my 460 Turbo isn't available to stick next to this. Some other time, maybe.

Nice purchase :-D

I have not seen one of these in the metal since I sold mine, they must be getting quite rare now,

I put mine through 3 mots and every time we had trouble getting the back brakes to make a reading on the rollers  not sure what the cause was just lucky he was a reasonable tester,

I love the shape of these, the front end is really brutish looking.

I bet those seats are comfy.

Well done Prab, it and ye olde Monaco will be best buds.

That's one mighty fine looking automobile like I've already said in Facebook. I love old 80s Renaults at the best of times but that's something else!

I have a big PHAT load of jealous going on for that. It looks lovely!

Its just over a year since I sold the v6 turbo as well, but i'm glad to be getting another boosted Renault, this one won't cripple me, I don't think!

That's the hit of the whole fruit.

Just paid the balance off, thought i'd get it out of the way. It cost me a whopping £38 to add to the policy my monaco is on. The monaco cost £88, add £38 for this, bloody bargains. With age comes receding hairlines but also cheap insurance!

A few tweeks and you will be scaring imprezza's with it.

I have an old fast car from the early 90's somwhere with a dyno shoot out - some of the motors were putting out power comparable with a sierra cosworth.

I used to have a 5 GT turbo - it was difficult to appreciate how something that was only 1400cc and OHV could go so fast.

I know you can go silly with the C1J engine, but i'll be happy with 170hp for daily driving and upping the boost to 200hp for some real fun. I'll probably chuck what I paid for it on the engine!
