garbaldy Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I took the landy to the yard and thought I would check up on the other toys, imagine my shock when I was confronted with this sight. How the hell does mould grow on polished paintwork and on plastic, It was all over the bike even the brake discs where covered, I checked the rest and both the colts and the mgb,s where growing penicillin,
Richard Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I'm not being confronted by any sight. Edit- I see it now.

saucedoctor Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 You could be the next Alexander Fleming. That mould may be the cure for Vauxhallness. I dunno what it is, but I've seen a similar thing on oul motors in scrapyards. Usually inside, mind. UltraWomble, Magnificent Rustbucket and Christine 3
HillmanImp Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Usually inside, mind. Aye, are these kept indoors?
garbaldy Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 Aye, are these kept indoors? yes they are in insulated box trailers which are dry with no leaks, they are in the exact same parking place as they where last year which is making me wonder if its a damp year.I also have two cars with mould growing on the seats and they are parked outside.
garbaldy Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 Are the trailers raised off the ground a reasonable amount? That can cause damp/mould if not. They are about 8 inches off he ground still connected to the trailer chassis,
Christine Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 That looks horrible, i can see it leaving fisheyes on the screen if it's not washed off

mercrocker Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Insulated seems to be the key to this....I have experienced this myself when I had a concrete shed that I insulated with foam sheets, it just killed all the airflow. Ventilating the wooden door helped but eventually I just stripped it all out apart from the roof slab. I have had more than usual amounts of condensation on the cars in my lockup too, this winter so it is atmospherics playing a part as well - probably not cold enough.....
danthecapriman Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I use those dehumidifier trays in my cars every winter. It's amazing the difference they make inside a car. I kept getting mouldy blobs just like the ones in your pics all over the seats, headlining, dash plastic etc etc. I also used to get condensation build up on the inside of glass on cars left outside. The dehumidifier trays totally stopped it all, I just periodically empty the water out the bottom. I've never had it on the cars exterior like that though. Air flow should stop it. Can you open a window or door slightly while they are left stored or maybe install a few air vents?
castros_bro Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 You got dead flies n insects decaying, if you used the thing in winter a fresh coating of road salt would cure the insect meat like fine salt pork. Craig the Princess 1
beko1987 Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I had a front and rear foot well full of water, but its not come back since stripping the interior out, drying it off and refitting it. Looking closely at it now and then though, handily* the previous owner cut a slit I'm the carpet under the passenger seat to fit an amp so I can get my hand under, and I tore the carpet in the front footwell so can get my hand under there too!
