Need a dog carrying estate

To be honest the carriage of doggies was the main reason I bought a 940 estate, it even has the volvo optional dog guard that folds into the roof. Harry the fat Labrador uses the tow bar as a step to get in.

This is excellent news sir. My phase 2 V70 is turning 15 this year :)

Apologies for the thread hijack but I take it classic insurance isn't compatible with a smattering of business miles?

It used to be, I had business use on this...

(Shown here ribboned up for my nephew's wedding; the business use in question was for mileage on care work.)

for such deserving passengers as those shown, there is only one way to travel, big volvo!!! (before they all go north to scotchland-shire)

me mam and dad have just got themselves another dog, an 9 week old border collie cross, flossie (?) just right to keep the old man company when walking on tuesdays.

he's got an octavia, so plenty of room for a dog....

We have 2 fairly big dogs and they only just fit in the back of a mk1 Volvo V70.

Interesting about relatively modern Volvos and classic car insurance, going to look into that.

Montego Countryman Estate in dizzler flavour if you can find one. That would be EPIC.

that seems to be a common theam with newer cars that the estate version isnt really much of an estate at all.

yesterday we were following some new fangled volvo that pre ported to be an estate, but, and this is a bloody big but, it was tiny. with a silly shaped boot opening, and next to bugger-all length to the load area. same with an aldi thing that i saw parked down the street the other day, it seemed to be no longer than a hatch back car, and it had this steeply sloping back on it. and no doubt it cost the poor sod driving it a friggin'; fortune!!

Austin Maxi. Probably easier to find than a Montego estate these days.

Or a Volvo, if the Scots haven't nabbed them all!

I've measured up and your doggies will all fit in a Volvo 480 with the back seats down.

Buy one immediately.

My Saabist friend's doggages (German Shepherd and Dutch Herder) seem happy enough to be transported by his 52 plate 9-5 estate :)

a victor FD ESTATE,

now that is as common as seeing a unicorn,

dancing in a tutu,

with a dodo,

eating faberge eggs.

and much much more attractive.

if you got that you could transport doggies in the style of Randall and Hopkirk deceased....

Dog blanket is cheaper than buying a car specifically to carry them,I can get 3 Labradors on the back seat of my car

Mess isnt that big a deal. Its his want to sit on my knee or drive. Just so keen to go out

I have mild dyslexia and keep reading this as a dog carrying a suitcase.

Big enough for all the doggages, classic, stylish...

The words "Holy shit!" and "Fuck me sideways!" don't even come close!  2k for a project, puny base engine and too many pedals?  Yeah I still would, it's gorgeous.  I had an Airfix one many years ago; just the one, never saw the kit available again, which is a major shame.  I've never understood why it hasn't appeared in any of the reissue series.  It was a lovely detailed model of an achingly stylish car.

In the spirit of useless, unhelpful answers, did the Horsey Horesless come in estate form? If not how about

It's relatively* cheap and you could get rid of the modern. Failing that, another vote for the Volvo

I was thinking of something a little newer.

To move slightly away from this topics direction of travel. What's the consensus on the Victor's garagemates? Looks like aRWD Starlet and an FE 2300S next to it,but could that be a Lancer Turbo behind it? Whatever, this person should be on here.
