Nissan Sunny disappearing fast

I've had an in-explainable interest in Nissan Sunny's as of late especially the last incarnation that was once everywhere but I have not seen one in some time. The Sunny for me has the last hint of the Datsun era to it and after that Nissan changed. It came as a surprise having a quick search on ebay to not find a single Sunny for sale.

That red one is a honey, the later blue one is nice as well. I think they look good in saloon variant.

There's a bader-matic in the next street, I'll try to take a pic in the morrow.

My parents had a 1982 Y reg sunny coupe for years. It had both Datsun and Nissan badges as it was on the change over when The Datsun name was ditched.

It was a dark metallic blue 1.5. They went all over the place in it and never had any trouble with it, aside from a blocked carb one time. The inevitable rust killed it in the end. It always looked solid and clean but the doors were rotting from the inside and the bulkhead ended up rotting out. The front carpets got wet when it rained, water ran down through the rust holes! They traded it in against an R reg Vectra (which pissed me right off!) the Vectra was faster but an inferior car in every other way.

It was a great car and my mum still misses it now!

I was going to have it but didn't have room or money at the time as I'd just got my Capri.

NBP 504Y where are you now!? Probably razor blades I expect.

I'll admit I can see the appeal of them, same goes for early Micras. Early '90s Corollas have a similar unpretentious appeal which is an antidote to all the German technoshite about.

gr9 4 joiriden. Easy to steal so beware if you get one. Getting thin on the ground especially up here in bonny rustland.

I had an '86 Sunny estate,

bought it accident damaged and repaired it in my spare time.

It served me well.

Sold to it to an uncle,it got stolen from him and trashed by joyriders.

A mates dad had a lovely '94 sunny saloon in red,

a low mileage mint example.

Stolen and burnt out.

A mate bought a nice silver example for his Mrs,

served her well, was even fitted with some nice genuine Nissan alloys and boot spoiler,

Stolen with her weeks shopping in it.

Found burnt out.

Great cars but seem to have been magnets for theiving mongs :-(

I learnt to drive in a red one of these in Worthing. Cant really comment on it as I had sod all to compare it to at the time.

To this day, my father insists that his 1985 Sunny was THE BEST CAR HE EVER HAD.

I remember it well, a silver 1.5 Maxima saloon with grey velour and Halfords wheel trimzz.

C253BKO I think..

I had one this year. I could not fault it. Other than its staunch reliability.

I also learned to drive in a 120Y, well I took my test in one, put it that way.   I was driving Anglia vans and Heralds round the local gravel pit for some years before I was 17.  The driving school car was a B210 saloon in the same colour green they used to paint school bogs and to me seemed very light on the controls and I hated the doom blue interior and the high waist line which made reversing more difficult than it needed to be.  I don't feel terribly nostalgic about it really, my Grandfather had a 180B at the same time which he also let me drive - I found that quite a bit nicer although it still had insides like a high-traffic bordello.   In my later school years I remember watching driveways in our street filling up with Datsuns - all manner of stuff was getting traded - 1100s, Volvos, Alfas, P6s, Simcas, Cortinas, BMC Farinas.   It was like watching the world changing as indeed it probably was.  People seemed happy with immediate delivery and a free radio.....I preferred the variety!

I had an M plate saloon in white about ten years ago, it was what you'd expect, a cheap reliable functional car

I'm not to worried about it being stolen (I will jinx myself now) as I live in a place that time forgot with an average age of about 96.

My dad's favourite car. Love started with the 120, for a short time a sunny Van. an affair with a starlet was short lived as a grey 3 door took pride of place finally to be replaced with younger smaller model and a new love for the micra

And you definitely don't see many of these bad boys.

Probably because they were all fannied around with and then crashed into trees, walls or lamp-posts.

Never seen one without a 4" exhaust and a FMIC, in years.

A mate of mine is a serial Sunny/Pulsar GTi-R tickler.

The GTI-R is like the WRX and all Evos a magnet for wankers who can't but help their need to fuck them up

Bexhill on Sea, Littlehampton, or Stoke on Trent? The first two places being excellent for finding giffer-mobiles with one careful, but now deceased, owner.

Lots of people said that. But I couldnt sell it on here for £2 when it came time to move on.

Because: Autoshite.

Aye. Unfortunately.

At least my mate just goes for power and whacks DET's back in engineless ones etc.

I used to want a 1.6 SR N14 Sunny, for my first car.

Can't be many of those left!
