Cars you didn't know existed until very recently.

Reminds me of a boxier Merc SL.

I really want to like modern US cars as I quite like some of the styling but you just know that they'd feel crude...

I thought Mercedes had moved on with the Maybach thing, apart from the Muppets off Dragons Den and J-Zed, nobody wanted them.

That was why I was surprised to see what looked like a new Maybach on a transporter presumably going to Mercedes UK HQ, this morning.

A little investigation shows its now like an S Class Van den Plas, primarily for the Chinese, but also for anyone else with more money than sense (or taste)post-17414-0-61904100-1438956542_thumb.jpg

And another from the same stable, Named Roadstar. Lifted from the ad.

.

I know that as an XLR.

That looks like the unholy love child of a Bentley S1, a 1960 Mercury and a PA Cresta...

Lets make it a foursome with the Simca Aronde

Dangel 'did' the 306. I didn't know that 'til just now.

EDIT: Bugger, seems it was a prototype only :(

I had a Cadillac STS a few years back.  It was a lovely thing in its own way, although the build quality was quite comical in places and it didn't really go round corners.  Never had any problems with the Northstar V8 either - gearbox was shit though.

Here's a pic:

That's superb. They definitely did 4x4 Partners and Berlingos, so a 4x4 ZX, 306, or Xsara could be doable if you are mental enough.

Here's one - Ferrari 456 4-door saloon.  I've seen loads of pics of the 456 estate, but not of the saloon version.  Not quite as convincing as the wagon imho.

Have always been left scratching my head at the concept of semi saloon from a sports car company. It's always seemed like having your cake and eating it...

As this page is becoming a Cadillacfest, I thought I should post this. I vaguely knew there was a crossover thing but I didn't know you could get them here and in RHD.

I'm looking for my next work car to replace the super reliable* bulletproof* 530d, when I get it back from its routine ca chain replacement ( with added head, cams, valves etc) . I fancy a change from reliable, unbreakable German diesels so I searched Autotrader for petrols over 3.0 litres , under 6 years old and up to £8,000.

Amongst the usual Tuetons were some real gems; Nissan Murano, Honda Legend, Cadillac CTS and a couple of these, this one is just over budget ,but it's a V8 with LPG- there were 2 3.6 V6's I could afford though....post-17414-0-54769200-1439111527_thumb.jpg

Did they sell them in the UK then?

Yes only in 08/09 apparently and they cost more than a Discovery.

According to How many left ? There were 53 in 2009 and there are still 48 of em left. Presumably this figure includes a few LHD imports.

Cab Direct are doing deals on E Class Mercs. I'd look there first.

could be a good shout - I assume GM parts bin for spares?

I'm fed up with having sensible cars, in recent years the cheapest to run thing I've had was a Chrysler 300. Although realistically it won't be a 15 mpg Cadillac van, but a 3.5 AWD Legend......

A Cab Direct E Class would be more than my mortgage and I'd resent it every time I got in it, I know this because I went the finance up to the bollocks route 5 years ago with a CLS, luckily that was tied into and in the name of a specific contract and customer, so when they went tits up the CLS went back and all I lost was the last months invoice( still hurt)

PAL Viceroy !? Some old Fiat screwed together by an Indian joint concern with Peugeot...

Wow, Bosch pump!

I've seen mentions of TUD Xsaras too. The n/a XUD Xsara goes ok but I wouldn't like less power.

Rear engined, rear wheel drive... better than that last one they did. Yet, not as cool as the original.

For a moment, just for a moment. I got excited. I thought it would have a frunk.

It doesnt. It just has a washer bottle and the radiator.

PAL was part of Premier Motors, for a long time one of the only three Indian car firms, the others being Hindustan of Ambassador (Morris Oxford) fame and the much smaller Standard, who made a 4dr version of the Triumph Herald named the Gazelle.

Premier built a version of the early 1960s Fiat 1100 until at least the mid 1980s, and there are still shitloads of them about, many serving as taxis in Calcutta/Bombay etc. The 'hardest place to be a cabbie' TV show had a Laaandann cabbie taking his Calcutta taxi certificate test in one, I think the example in question had no working indicators and virtually no brakes. The horn worked though, so all was good.

That big square Zil a couple of pages back is a new one on me, and looks flipping great. Definitely would.

Blink and you'd miss it.  Had no idea the Astra and Belmont were sold across the pond as Pontiacs. I still hate them! lol

AKA Asùna Sunfire or somesuch in Canadia, because GM didn't have enough disposable brands in the '90s.
