Thought/suggetions, Shitefest 2015 or AS roadtrip

Aye. If we arrange to salvage a 2CV in a field, that'll definitely make it rain non-stop! Bring gazebos.

I would be well happy with Wales again as well, was a real highlight of my year in 2014.

Just had a thought, the SVM might be interested in a side trip to my mates little Volvo garage, which has a comphrensive selection of dead Volvos and a large shed full of Volvo treasure.

There is also a 1989 Ford Transit minibus like the one recently sold to make a camper, albeit a lot greener and mouldier, a dead XJS V12 and and a 1988 Buick Park Avenue with comedy UK rear light conversion.

What more could anybody want?

...we could hold a mass 2CV rebuild weekend...

This one:

...hooning, scones, quizzes, swearing and fire.

Perfect.

SF14 was MEGA and I'd be happy to return to Wales, but only if it wasn't too much of a ball-ache for DW.

He skillfully made it look like not much organisation had gone into it but I'm sure, like a swan, the outward serenity was accompanied by at least a bit of frantic leg flapping beneath the surface.

Wherever it is though, I am not missing it.

I may even have some Bulgarian chod to bring this time :-D

Same. Fantastic weekend. Have to say the road trip in itself, stopping after a roundabout to collect trim that had fallen off the car et al was all part of the fun.  Dw's Wales has some fantastic roads and stunning scenery.

Well, I'm organising another event in April, so it would have to be later in the year this time. I don't mind if someone else steps up to the mark, but if you want Wales, Wales I can do. Could even do a longer event with more of a roadtrip flavour to it p'raps. 4-day weekend? Might make it better for folk (non-SVM obviously) who are coming a long way (they'd happily travel the length of the country for a day trip it seems!).

Any day except August 24th suits me. Even that might be doable. If it's later in the year I may do the journey in the Y-reg 345 1.4 DeLuxe with it's four gears of MADNESS.

Ah. August 24th is the 2CV 24hr, which was one of the ideas floating around. I have to say, I prefer an Autoshite-specific weekend idea, though Shiters are welcome to come to Anglesey for Tin Snail Marathon.

I'd do Wales again, but I may drive somewhere else beforehand to make the trip a bit more of an adventure! It's only 70 miles from here to Devil's Bridge, but a trip via Shropshire would add some miles and be a big trip down memory lane for me.

Just as an idea...

"private field available for picnics or overnight camping" but more importantly was the visitor comment "Excellent but very strange" which I think could well describe some members on here!

Anyway, I may be going along here for my birthday treat shortly, so if I do will report back.

Not a bad shout. 2CV lot had a camp there last year and really enjoyed it. I think they're doing it again this year. You'd be responsible for the scenic drive if it's further north though. ;-)

Hmm, so a possibility then. I have a few ideas for scenic drives in the area, and there's always the overrated Evo Triangle nearby. I will look into things!

Access wise it's pretty good, with it being only 10 minutes from the A483 dual carriageway from the north, and 30 miles from the dual carriageway part of the A5 from the Midlands. Although those routes in are pretty dull compared with getting to Devil's Bridge.

Far too logical.  Other less direct routes are available.  We have maps, some even from this century...  :)

I'm up for anywhere in the UK, as long as it isn't around the end of May/early June time. I really need to get to Shitefest this year, as I've never been before and it looks a great laugh.

Is there a charge for the field? The one at the Hafod is utterly free, which is nice. Has all of that marvellous hardstanding too - great for Samara brake rebuilds.

^^^^ :-)        I'd forgotten about that. We need to have another Will workshop this year.

I have no idea, although would imagine so but possibly not if we all paid for museum entry. If there is, it'd be partly balanced out by (presumably) not having to hire a Portaloo. That's a lot of ifs, buts and maybes so hopefully will find out more on Saturday.

Hard standing would be a big plus - quite frankly last year's venue seemed perfect but I just thought I'd throw this idea in as well to see if it appealed to more people, and if DW didn't want to organise it two years in a row...

Thon museum looks good. at 530 miles for the round trip I'd be looking at £120ish in fuel on the Jaag. not too bad

I have no problem with organising it again, but generally it is often better to move to a different venue I find. Otherwise, all you do is compare with the previous year. Bit conflicted on this one as it was great fun to organise! Mainly because Shiters are ace. Would be interested to know what others think.
