They're very good - I use one on my XJ40, though I have to suck it twice if that makes any sense, since there is more than six litres of oil. It removes almost all the oil - removing the sump plug and letting the remainder drain out will see less than a tablespoon more oil removed from the sump. There is a good practical reason for using the Pela on the XJ40 - quite apart from the ease of using the sucker. The sump pan gets brittle with age and the sump plug is often over tightened to the point it can strip the thread. This isn't uncommon on XJ40s.

Where are these £40? They were £60 odd when I was looking last year.

Very keen to buy if you're happy with your one!

Keep your eye on HotUKDeals as managed to get mine from a marine supplier of all places for £29 a few months back.

Sorry that's expired though now.

As said, I paid £36 with free postage off of everyone's favourite online auction site:)

The 6L capacity will do everything in my fleet in one go (Fabia/Toledo/e30s/Clio/Honda CRV) Bar the Daimler and the e60 520i.

I reckon after 4 changes it'll have paid for itself.

An eBay search for Pela 6000 (which is the one you want) brings up one at £38.95 delivered.

I once changed the Punto's oil in the time between telling my wife it was time to go out and her actually emerging from the house.

Yep, the hoon to heat the oil took longer than the change..

Ive had mine a few years now the only problem with it is the seal that goes between the handle and bottle got contaminated with old engine oil so its not as air tight as it should be and the rubber boot falls off.

The good thing I find with the pela is that because it's so easy to use you use it more than you should so most of my fleet get a couple of oil changes a year when there's a deal for cheap oil online.

On the smart car I think it would get an oil change about once a month as it took so little.

I'm intending to give the Fabia regular oil changes, and this will make it a doddle:)

the silverline 4l one works ok for about £15 ish

That looks very much like a poor man's Pela for not much less. It doesn't have the Pela's big base, which helps to make it more stable and lets you steady it with your foot as you pump, and it doesn't have rings to show you how many litres you've got.

I'm not sure how much I paid for mine - I seem to think it was about £40-ish.

This looks nice. About about 17x more appealing than the Fabia.

I'll be honest - had more fun in 250 miles in this than I did in 12500 in the fabia..
