How many people are working on the truck? I can't believe the speed that is getting done up!

Dacias are for licking.

You didn't say that when you say Edd's rancid Duster!

There has been a steady team of only 2 or 3 people, but that's 5 or 6 days a week whilst the bodywork was carried out. Now it's Danut and one other person as and when he needs a hand. This stage will be carried out by Danut, eye for detail etc.

I've also chosen to go for a 5 speed box, got it a few days ago and now the complications have started, the drive shaft doesn't marry to the rear axle and needs playing and tinkering with, but where there's a will there will be a way.

I have a funny feeling when the front end is done, it will look epic with the spot lights at the top, or at least that's what I hope ;-)

Fair play, that's amazing. Are you going to put mudflaps on the back to protect from stonechips?

tbf Joe, a bit of over-enthusiastic tongue work might have spent the end for that Duster... ;-)

Is that your one or another as I know there is a bloke near me in Somerset who collects a lot of old french tat and has a couple of espace in those colours. He keeps telling me about his collection but I haven't seen it yet

They're old pics of his one (M229...), before Sam G had it :)

I'll ask the question before the photos appear - how come the rear lights are different? Not knocking them by any means, just curious as it seems to be one of the last yet the current lights look a newer style than the originals.

Double the Dacias, double the pussay.........

Verdict - you lucky sod!

The rear lights are indeed for a newer model, albeit brand new they are for a newer model. I have managed to find one period specific rear light, brand new, had been on the shelf for over 8 years......the salesman even laughed saying he never thought that would sell. So I've got one brand new period specific rear light and after many many calls we can't seem to find another, so for the time being these will have to do :(((

I've just typed a long long text about the issues we are having regarding the move from a 4 speed box to 5 speed box, hit post and dissapeared :(

I'll do it again

Copy it to your clipboard before hitting post  - just in case ;)

Well, it doesn't look too modern for a mid-90s vehicle, and if you should ever find one in the future you could always change it then. It would tickle my sense of humour to roll up to a modern Dacia dealer in it, and ask if they had one in stock!

Fabulous. Though I have to say, what's the deal with the grille? Is the horrible plastic one it did have factory fit? It did make it look of its age. ie "we're trying to disguise just how ancient this design is by slapping some plastic on it.' I like that.

Posted

I wasn't fond of the grill, I've moved away from the original spec I know.....but I think this works better, I think it makes it looker much nicer. Better pics soon.

I love it! Absolutely remarkable save and it looks like the lads have absolutely done you proud. I must say though if it were mine I'd have to skip the wide wheels and ladder rack/roll bar but...

Just read this for the first time.

I am in awe.

And this thread made me late for work. Bastards.

I hope the graphics at least are making a comeback on this fantastic little truck.  As pretty as the grille is you've fitted, part of its charm was definitely that funny plastic number it sported.

The graphics will go back on it, but only when it comes back to me........Danut doesn't trust anyone out there to have it done and he's not willing to take a risk on it, I guess I have to appreciate his honesty on this one.

The plastic grille, I lost quite a few hours sleep thinking about the fact that I've moved from the original spec but......I guess time will tell.

Definitely prefer the original grile - although I will concede the current one is more aesthically pleasing!
