Mid shite crisis continues. (now with 100% more MOT)

I'd say driving a silver 13 year old Astra  IS the primary cause of a major midlife crisis.

I's suffer sn Ashtray Estate or Ashtrayvan on the basis of the sheer superbness of the Zafira I am shortly to part company with. The Shakira is only an Astra IV with extra height** and the way it hauled my UPull It hoard and my tool chest on Sat whilst the AC froze my bollocks off whilst listening to Tony Blackburn on the factory ICE whilst cruising along at 30+ mpg reminded me that Voxals are FUGGING ACE INNIT.

My company, back in the day, had Vx Combo DF (Do-Nut tank under the floor) + spare in the load area.

Had a VERY annoying habit of croaking in very, VERRY HEAVY rain...... like 'dead, dip clutch, no go!!.... outside lane of M6 passing huge artikks @85 in floods!!!'

Totally Shitless, may I say!!!!!!!!

Dealer never got it sorted - many new parts [somewhere under the block].... rumour said crank sensor.... it did it always in Noah Boat conditions.

I get a Mk4 Astra quite often as a garage courtesy car, 1.6 8v auto with steel wheels (police spec) and I tell you what, I think it's great. Good luck to you.

Predictable Cavcraft like for this.

The only thing I reckon looks gash on them is the 'wood' trim, looks sort of stupid on these I reckon. You'll be pleased to know the outer body won't rust much more than it has already, they didn't half get this bit right on these Astras, as they did in other departments too.

driven few of these... so dull i fell asleep and woke up when i got to destination ..lol

Come on, this is Autoshite. There must have been a worse model you could have picked? Was there not a 1.4 or something with a few more problems, or did you not look hard enough? Plush velour or not, I for one am not impressed.

It was literally the only car my dad was trying to sell to me at the time.

Don't try that desperate plea with me, get a worse car or GTFO :D

I bet you've got a nicer car hiding at home and this is all a big farce to look popular.

Stop trying to groom me using baked goods as a lever.

I don't want to show you my bread or anything else.

In fact, I'm reporting you to Project HovisTree.

Thank you all for the excellent suggestions in the Midlife Crisis thread.

I pondered them all and even had a few bids on Ebay.

Then I did a dirty shocker.

The bad bits:

Managed to get through most of a tank of LPG.

Time for some facts.

241 miles @ 70p a litre = Ã‚£28.29 @ 27.11 MPG.

Cheap motoring is boring, but cheap.

I had a Vauxhall back in 1992. I am now married with kids, mortgage, thinning hair and a sense of misery in not having achieved all I wanted in life. I lay the blame firmly at the hands of NUF 546W.

All Vauxhalls are shit....

Having owned 8 off front wheel drive 8V Vauxhalls, (plus a few none Vauxhalls), I am proud that my son now has a 16V Astra Mk4. I have driven it. And quite frankly it's NOT that bad.

My 14 year old Corsa went straight through its MOT this year with advisories only for a corroded rear axle and a chip on the windscreen.

My Astra MK4 went through with no advisories, had been stood 2 years and started right up.

Horrible cars for horrible people of course.

Looks ok to me.

Can't it do a bit better than 27 mpg though?  If you lose about 20% over petrol mpg that is only about 33, doesn't seem very good, unless lots of very short journies or something.

You're only supposed to say that when you're speaking to an interested buyer.

Funny you should mention that.

Because it is indeed for sale.

With the Merc and the Mazda, it's becoming surplus to requirements.

I thought you'd offloaded the Merc?

How many £££'s would it take to buy it?

£700.

That includes tax till May (which I THINK is still allowed to transfer) and the £250 worth of Goodyear Efficientgrip tyres that I ave just put on. (4 of, reciepted).

Also comes with 4 winter tyres.
