The Retro Show @ Santa Pod Photos

Recommended Posts

Another week, another show! This weekend was the Retro Show at Santa Pod, It was my first time at this show and although it wasn't anywhere nearly as big as the Classic Ford show a few weeks back there was still a nice variety of cars and interesting modifications to look at.

I went along with a friend in my Mk3 whist some other friends went in their Mk4 & 5 and we convoyed up which was fun.

Well, maybe not most of all but I like it lots.

Those old Volvo tanks are really starting to get fashionable at long last! Just bit of drop and the right wheels and they look fantastic!

Great pics as ever and thanks for taking the time to upload them all. I was fully prepared to have a mass-tutting fest at my screen as I scrolled down but mostly, I like the mods that people have done. It adds a bit of difference and the truly shocking efforts just re-iterate how class a lot of the standard stuff is and hence puts them in a good light, too - that standard 3dr Mk3 Escort estate is effortlessly cool compared to that primer grey 5 series estate/van abomination, for instance.

I'm pretty sure that Argenta is a Volumex version and unique in the UK - originally some Fiat UK exec company car, hence the RHD. I'm pretty sure the same guy owns the black 131/132 pictured below, too, though all the above info is from a mag I read years ago, so it could all be a load of crap.

Flipping brilliant pics trig. Looks like a proper ace show that, i wish I'd gone. A great mix of stuff with barely a single Barry shitbox in sight. Impossible to pick a favourite but the Ital van has to be on the shortlist as does that turqoise VVC metro, the blue JU van and the orange Lada. Great stuff!!!

Thanks for that. I loved seeing the red Simca 1000 as Mum had a baby blue version from the same year. Haven't seen one for yonks.

Some brilliant stuff there :-D

Enjoyed that, thanks for all the trouble of posting up.

I love three box designs and there's glorious oodles of the buggers there to drool over.

Considering that Allvoxhallizshit, I'm surprised how many nice ones there are from the PB twins to the Astras and Novas.

Great show and great pics ! Thanks, Trig.

Can't remember when I last saw an Uno Turbo in the wild... Probably a good decade ago !

Thanks Trigg for that lot

So much wantage there the bucket list gets bigger.I carn't remember the last time i saw an Uno turbo.

I agree, but I also quite like the BMW van thing, especially the silly gutter spikes along the roof. But then I have practically no taste.

Some great cars there. Shame one or two are spoiled by the wheels.

I'll always love that BT van and the first red Uno is nice.

Each to their own, but I think this proves there are some very shit ideas in fashion at the moment that are being inflicted on the older car; for example I can't see many Volvos there that don't look ridiculous.

However the more standard looking or sublte cars look ace. I love Simca 1000s. And MK4 tinas, why did Ford bother with the mk5??? The 4 is a much sleeker looking thing.

I'm amazed the Cavalier exhaust is legal.

Top flight reportage, Trig. Looks like a proper day out was enjoyed by all.

I wonder if you get a load of fumes in your face if you drive round in that Cavalier with the window wound down.

Ronal Turbo's apparently, they look great on the R5, there must have been at least 10-15 of the buggers there!

The drive home was a proper laugh, the number of cars overtaking whilst taking photos, pointing or giving the thumbs up was unreal, It was a proper good fun!

isn't that clubman est the one on an MX5 floorpan?

That's the one, It's rear wheel drive and goes well, we watched it do some autotesting and it seemed pretty planted.
