Last time I drove one of those, it was so comfortable that I didn't want to get out and my motor trader friend whose car it was had to come out of his office to check I wasn't dead.

What are the rear arches like? I recall them to be a notorious rot-spot back in the day, due to the way they were welded together and how their seams were filled with brass.

Sweet as! I am actually jealous even though I'm not really into Fords.

I drove a 2.9 Granada-Scorpio a couple of years back from Worcester to near Bristol and back again. Strangely enough, it also had a car-phone. I cant really remember if it had leather or cloth, but I did enjoy it's lazy pulling power. It didn't feel as instanly responsive as my Sterling but then nor did it feel as corse.

Arches are all fine but I would say the rear ones have defo been done at some point, to the naked eye you can tell when looking close up.

Well jel.

I was a back seat passenger in one of these about 25 years ago and thought it was cavernous. I'm 6'2" and fat.

Wanted one ever since (with chauffeur).

That's bloody lovely that is! FATHA_RML had a string of MK3 Granadas when I was a nopper and it was comfortable in the back even with two siblings.
Scorpio was bestest though.

I had two of those and they are terrible. They are so comfy, that all passengers fall asleep within minutes. I was surrounded by snoring and farting people for almost the entire duration of every journey. Not very entertaining.

excellent choice. I had a couple back when they were current, supremely comfortable to ride in and a decent turn of speed. I had the 2.9 24v one which was just mental.

Looks a nice old 12v barge, I have always thought a jelly granada is a nice place to be especially in v6 flavour, it's just a shame the most of the 24v version became rape victims

I wanted my dad to have one of these, instead he bought a 2.0 with cloth and rear electric windows on a D plate. Nice motor!

My dad had the 2 litre ghia with manual box - it went surprisingly well.

I am not sure that these will have the scene tax of other fords.

As requested, some more pics of the Granada sorry they are taken only of the nearside, couldn't be arsed afford to start it up and move it ;-)

If you ever come to sell this I reckon there'll be a mass internet e-fight over it.

A fine buy!   Mine was a 2.0 DOHC 5 speeder - 40 mpg plus on a run, shit loads of carrying space, slept in it more than once and a nice proper-wheel-drive way of going about.   It was just too modern for me and I never jelled with it but on balance it was one of the best all rounders I owned.

I'd deffo be wading into the Scorpio Moshpit with my arms flailing if it came up for sale. It looks lush and I can imagine finding it comfier than my IKEA sofa.

This used to happen in my 800s aswell. Not one car did I not have at least one person fall asleep. We never even went on hugely far journeys. 30/40 miles but within 10 mins they'd be asleep. As you said not very entertaining.

If you can sleep when I'm driving, I take it as a compliment!

Unless I'm at work and you haven't got up yet, in which case I'll just grumble miserably about having to get up at unholy hours just so you can have fresh pies.....

^^^^^Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Pies^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Bro had one - and executive, part-exed a Delta HF for it. can't remember when or the reg or owt, but I do remember the reclining rear leather seats, and leaving Mildenhall track, and being asleep before getting to Barton Mills roundabout....(about 3 miles....)

if you can guarantee it'll make my missus sleep when I'm driving then I'll defo buy it if you get bored of it.

Sorry chaps no photos of hearty breakfasts and random bus stops in the middle of no where...

I have bought this 1989 Granada Scorpio 2.9i Auto from a guy a mile down the road, I wanted something cheap and comfy to bum about in and knowing this Granada was a mile down the road for sale I couldn't resist, especially as I managed to get classic insurance for £155 a year fully comp! (Thanks Micrashed)

It has electric everything and amazingly everything still works, electric seats front and rear, windows, mirrors, sunroof, c/locking etc also the old antenna phone is still in the car for extra shiteness...The car has just had the speedo sensor, rocker cover gaskets, battery and alternator replaced, it has MOT to Feb 2015 and 2 months tax left in the screen, I paid £450.

This photo flatters it somewhat but its not a bad looking old granny overall.

Interior is ok, a little tired but very comfy. Check out the dog and bone.

Doesn't appear to be using any oil or water, its starts, pulls and drives pretty well, auto box changes up and down with no fuss.

I will see how it goes but this will just be my weekend run around for the foreseeable.

Gets a Ten from Len!

That's a stunner - had a black C reg Scorpion 2.8i.............21 years ago :-0
