Given the location of Hibberts I'm going to guess that there was one fairly major source of raw material. However, back then it looked a bit different.

Wow.

That is such a powerful image. Is there a general date when the pic was taken?

That is 'Battersea A Power Station' completed by 1935. Construction of the 'B Station' (the mirror image) commenced in 1937 and was completely post war.

So that photo is taken 1935 on - but given there's a bit of scaffolding on the perimeter wall and general freshness of the brick my guess is 1935. There is no evidence  of the 1937 on addition starting to the east.

I can see the tops of the towers from where I live - that thing is immensely big though recently subsumed in a sea of crappy flats.

London's only original large scale power station now surviving in use is at Greenwich. It's now the back-up to run the underground if the Grid fails. Rolls-Royce gas turbines get switched up to power once a month.

This is about 1908.

The chimneys are much shorter  these days but the big coal-drops still project into the Thames on immense  iron columns.

Looks like the German starsky preferred a pug 504 to the Gran Torino.

May be a black-and-white image of 2 people, car and outdoors

Good to see he spent his money wisely. Imagine having to decide between those two each morning.

One of the highest paid entertainment stars of his day. His humour has not really carried into the modern age unlike his contemporaries such as Laurel and Hardy etc.

This ditty was banned by the BBC...

Photographer Walter Chernokle caught Charlie Musselman’s incredible flip at Langhorne Speedway in 1957. How Charlie survived is anyone’s guess, but he did, with only minor injuries and not a broken bone. His shoes were found inside the car.

Royal Blue Bristol MW / ECW coach on front, probably on a London Bristol service. Couple of Bristol LS / ECW single decks and a K or LD / ECW behind all from Thames Valley, before it was fucked up and became Alder Valley. I've a colour slide of buses in there in about 1975.

The wrecker in front looks to be a Bedford (MW?). Probably WW2 surplus.

I think so too. And there were many former military trucks that were used for this here.
