No it's not from the shite American Graffiti film.

They were taken in 1972 by Rick McCloskey on Van Nuys Boulevard.

Looks like they are manually lifting the screens into place - several teams in series - one of the things notable about these UK production line pictures is how basic was still the construction technology - no wonder the cars had quality control issues.

Little safety gear there - both fitters seem to have no foot protection.
