I wonder how many more times after this it'll be relisted due to timewasters*?

Irrespective of the condition, he's got it on ebay, so in my experience probably lots.

It could be in perfect condition, with £10k in the boot and the buyer is still likely to mysteriously vanish as soon as the auction ends.

Will be interesting to see what it goes for this time round though and next time, and the time after that.

Does look a bit better round there doesn't it?

Oddly it doesn't seem to have had the top of the windscreen surround done...

I mean if you had the windscreen out to do the A pillars, you'd normally do the top as well wouldn't you.

It might be done properly but I'm not convinced this isn't what the 'hand job' is covering up?

Filler and fresh paint is rather effective at hiding metal degradation as I've found out so often 😅

Hmm, at £2,500 I might be tempted to put in a bid......

Have you seen this one? It looks an honest example and the cheapest GT6 I've seen in YEARS.

£1350 or 'make offer'...

It looks to have only been left outside more recently I reckon.

I saw that one earlier. As much as Hillmanimps last one needs a lot of work, at 5k end price last time it'll still be cheaper than that one. Even DIY'ing, it's going to likely need a full engine rebuild or possibly a replacement unit. Panels aren't cheap and it's going to need a lot of them. Everything brake related replaced. Most of the interior replaced. Electrically a lot will be broken and need fixing.

That can easily go from a £1350 project to £6k+ in parts.

Only tangentially related, but this has started rocking up at work in the last few weeks.

Rather rough around the edges, a definitely ten-footer, but nice to see one being used daily.

See also, rusty MG ZR in the background that has I'm 99% sure is abandoned as I've never seen it move from that spot, yet somehow never has rusty discs 🤔

Agreed. HUGE job to put that car right, and Triumph bits are a touch dearer than LR ones even if they're not RR prices.

You'd need to see the green one to work out what you were taking on.

That degree of screen surround rot on the blue one is v tricky to fix.

That's a reserve price though.

Did have a best offer button until someone bidded on it. 🙄

Your green one or this blue that is now green?

I was very close to buying this but I was moving at the time and couldn't take on a project. Then that house move fell through. Ended up buying the Dolomite which is still a garage ornament. 😅

I really want that yellow one in Yate on my P4 thread but I've literally filled every place I can store cars again!?

Just read the rest of the thread and realised they're the same car. Blimey. No thanks.

That yellow Spit in Yate is too nice for you. Don't buy it 😉

So it went from blue to green and back to blue!

Went for a good price this year. Presumably it's had some sort of work done if it's been painted again.

Back to it's old colour before I had it, or at least very close.

I'm not totally convinced it's had that much done. It's the same bonnet which I know was more wob than metal, which maybe doesn't bode well for the rest of the car? There seems to be a fair bit of overspray too which isn't a great sign.

This also looks pretty grim at the back still, it seems to have lost it's rear 'seats' along the way.

All the panel gaps are as they were when I sold it so they've not rehung the doors etc so they've not done a great deal to the bodywork other than spray it. I'd be interested in seeing the windscreen surround in more detail as that was the elephant in the room. I can't see the O/S boot floor to see if that's done.

I reckon someone's possibly just made it look 'okay' to punt it on as opposed to actually do it properly.

It's still got my bottle opener on the key ring 🤣:

Filler, fresh paint and a punt out of the door then. As always, buyers beware with old cars! Especially with shiny paint - that always gets the buyers in.

£1000 respray has added £3k to it's value, apparently! I suspect it'll be back for sale before long...

I mean, you buy a £6 or £7k GT6, you know it's gonna be a bit of a snotter.  I reckon the auction price was quite fair. If it's running okay, it's (relatively) cheap fun motoring.

I was looking at them for my dad a while back (ended up with a mk3 Spit). 6 or seven grand is massively bought with issues. Top note ones are anywhere upto 20 and there was a mk1 on car and classic recent that was supposedly a factory press car that I swear was up for something like 40.

Tldr my absolute ideal car. Unless someone wants to sell me a mk2 Gilbern Invader for 5 grand (we had one when I was a little kid)

I was looking at Invaders at the NEC recently. They're now top of my list for a 'family friendly classic'.

I've just been looking though an old hard drive on a PC I'm about to chuck and found the video that YouTube had deleted of me crashing the GT6.
