2.2 seems quite gutsy for some reason, although FATHA_RMLs does quite a lot of short journeys so that might be why. They are comfortable, spacious and wafty but the steering wheel doesn't feel like it's connected to the wheels.

Quite brisk when the occasion calls for it too.

My Jag would be ideal but it's plagued by dead cow.

Doesn't Vulgalour's brother have an Omigod for sale, complete with Gentleman's Gearbox?  I'm sure I saw it when I visited, and it's not a million miles from you either...

He did and it was, but since he had to argue to get even the scrapman to take it away I doubt it'd be what Junkman is after in this instance.  Dad's too was a godawful piece of Vauxhell engineering* once the first component broke and both Ohmygods earned their reputation for being disgusting money pits in very short order.  Disappointing really because in every other regard they're a thoroughly reasonable motored conveyance.

For that reason I'm suggesting you consider purchasing a Jaaaaaaaaag.

This must have a high percentage of Junkman boxes ticked?

It even seems to think that it's a cunningly disguised yank, I can't quite decide weather it's a big rust spot on the bonnet or they just have exceptionally well fed sparrows living above the car?

I don't know the figures for a QX Maxima but the previous model (J30) was 19mpg urban and 32mpg at 75mph so not brilliant on fuel. That said, the QX might be slightly better being a bit more modern with DOHC V6. Probably unbreakable too but sadly very, very dull.

Junkman, go and buy that Camry estate right now.  Otherwise I might have to, and we don't want that to happen, do we!

I heard about a Vauxhall Royale for sale at work last night.

Sadly, that's all I know about it.

Shall I find out more?

Actually we do.

Rover 75 Estate Connoisseur - I would personally provide a flat cap, driving gloves and a UKIP rear window sticker.

Camry estate. Or a quick nip to bring that R16 over here.

W123/124 is deffo on the radar.

As for 123/124s, all the estates use Shitroen's suspension on a licence to suspend the rear end. With added Mercedes naffness. Everything's a pain on them - no self-bleeding, hours instead of minutes to change spheres, cylinders which don't like taking a hammering and so on. The pumps wear too, that's the easy fix.

Dyanes carry more than many modern estate cars, PHAKT.

Right, where were we?

Many, many thanks for all your input!

Some interesting suggestions indeed.

However, the Junkwoman decided she wants to keep the Mitsubishite for the time being.

I can understand her decision, it is a surprisingly good car, despite it will need a bit of pointless work to pass another pointless MoT.

The advantage this has, is that I no longer have to consider this disturbingly mad sensible way of looking at things, and can revert to the comfortably normal procedure of buying some totally bonkers shite.

Junkman, buy the Triumph 2500 TC from Six Cylinder.  It will stop me buying it  (until I buy it off you, natch).

The Trummy unfortunately is a tad out of my budget, I'd rather spend that kind of money on the Rover of d00m, if I had it.

I like Avantimes, and always did, but they are too far post-1986 to be considered expedient motors by me.

I suspect them to be crammed with little black boxes and I just can't bring myself toward getting involved with such nonsense.

Hence the only Avantime I'll ever own will be 1:18 scale.

Those Houndys rank quite high on my waft-O-barge want-O-meter anyway.

I haven't seen one with non-slip interior yet, though.

Especially fond of the rear door being ca. 20% longer as required:

Aesthetic, you mean, but there is an ascetic element in buying a POS Korean luxoshed for a monkey.
