These are lovely, I think.  Anyone ever had any experience of one?  They seemed to only be offered in a few LHD markets but such an improvement on the 262.

I love the styling, but there are two things that would put me off owning one : The first is how expensive they are, especially compared to their cheap-as-chips saloon and estate brethren. The second is that they were built in Italy, which has apparently led to dubious build quality and corrosion resistance.

Built by Bertone in their factory, alongside the X1/9. The last X1/9's even shared paint colours with them. Mica blue and Mica red. I used to get my X1/9 paint mixed to Volvo's codes..

They're very handsome, and you can get them with the VW LT straight-6 diesel.

which is a tad simper than the diesels Volvo use today, even if not the finest old diesel.

I like it. and the 262 which always looked to me like an "if volvo did lincoln continentals...." kind of thing.

780s are extremely handsome things but the 262c is more Autoshite.

Also, you could have loads of saloons/estates for the money they fetch.

Pity that that were never available as four door saloons or estate cars.

The 262 is a handsome car despite looking somewhat oddly proportioned, especially the roof.

If chop shop did volvo's....

I presume that you mean the VOC forum? I've not been on there for about five years.

That's Mumsnet you're talking about.

780's rot like buggery, as the body work was built in Italy and rust proofing was pretty inadequate. They share no panels with the saloons, and replacements are unobtainium.

Still would!
