Shite for sale in U Pull It - Fife

Had a wander round upullit today, there was a few worthy and / or interesting looking motors in their "for sale" bit so I thought I'd bung them on here.

I was particularly taken with the Audi 80. 10 months ticket and hardly a mark on it bar a small amount of lacquer peel at the top of the passenger door and one missing door mirror

Asked about it in the office and they said theres not much wrong with it, previous owner just couldnt be arsed selling it.

The ex-autoshiter Citroen. Its a bit shabby but more in the way of what just looks like neglect by the last owner IE it needs a bloody good clean. Didnt look bad to be honest

This was interesting, but smashed window and a bit of damage on the rear quarter. Bit salty too. Diesel though so OMGMPG if you bothered to sort it out

That's very interesting!  Did you get snaps of any others?  I might be temptible by anything older than the BX.

Posted

I took snaps of the silver Celica which i liked a lot. They're ace (if thirsty) but it seemed salty to me at £650, the Beemer and an MG ZR which looked half decent too, but there wasn't anything older than the BX.

Few Focii, micras etc

The audi looked a great deal at the money - Even had good rubber all round.

Whose was the BX14 then? It wasn't mine btw!

We have the bits here to sort out that 205 if anyone fancies it, including more suitable wheels and tyres.

A bit O/T, but a photo of my Bx alongside that bx now in the scrappies. Did not know it was being disposed of.

That BX has been 'advertised' on the Facebook Retroshite page (of which I'm no longer a member). Sounds like the engine has been cooked at some point. He didn't do a very good job of selling it. Shame.

U pull it said it has some kind of overheating issue as when it arrived the gauge was in the red (the BX) and it has a minor hydraulic leak, but otherwise it starts , stops, suspension goes up and down etc as it should. It sped past me on the M90 only a few weeks ago and made me smile.

Its certainly saveable, not really my bag though, although I think its a shame its ended up where it is. the scrappy guys said "its a good car thats fallen on hard times, but ultimately its in a scrapyard so if it doesnt find a home theres only one way its going" I'm tempted to liberate the Audi because its far too good to be in there and I fear no one else will, but I've no real need for it.

it was a fairly lowly spec I think - 523i.. auto. looked quite tidy but cloth interior so I didnt pay too much attention.

That Citroen deserves some TLC. I think out of all of them though, the Audi is the only one with a chance.

Fuck-a-duck, that 205 is class. I hope someone takes that on.

Hopefully it will live to fight another day.

I think they get a month in the for sale bit before crushing. So the BX has just under three weeks left, the audi around ten days. Not sure on the 205/Beemer

If i thought I could rehome the Audi for what it cost me I'd buy it to get it out of there. its that clean. But they seem to be utterly unwanted despite being good motors

The BX belongs to "something awful" of here IIRC, someone who's name is a rather apt in my opinion.

I've met Something Awful and he's a nice guy. He bought the Renault 18 off me and if he hadn't it might have ended up weighed in. Its shit the BX has ended up in the scrappy but it clearly needs work and if he didnt have the finances/inclination I can totally understand. I had to bin my tidy Focus (ok i know they are ten a penny) for want of a clutch even though it was in great nick because I was skint, no one was buying and I had nowhere to put it.

It's more to do with a alteration I had with him on Facebook then anything to do with cars, plus he didn't exactly come across as normal in the head in his for sale advert on that Retroshite page.

Posted

Was it offered on here before it went for scrap? Don't recall seeing a thread (although admittedly all the BXs do blend into one for me sometimes).

Posted

I'm not sure. He put an.. interestingly worded.... ad on Facebook offering it for £250 but no one was biting

Posted

Don't think it was advertised around here, but the Facebook ad was perhaps not as tempting as it could have been. Something Awful is a decent sort of chap when you meet him.

If I had somewhere off street to tinker with it I'd have that BX in a heartbeat. Unfortunately it looks like it's time may be up.

Wrong, the BX belonged to autoshite member "Nisfan" I had nothing to do with the car though I did give him a lift back from scrapping it.

Actually it was Nisfan that bought the Renault 18 from you, drove it twice, then let it disolve on his driveway, seizing the brakes and letting it run out of tax and mot.

Since it has come into my ownership it has been given a new lease of life, driven over 10k miles all over the uk and been a great car to have. I've replaced numerous parts and done loads of work on it and saved it from the scrappers, If I hadn't got it, it would've ended in the same place as the bx.

Most of you might not agree with what I've done to the car but everything can still be reversed and repainted in it's original colour...

As for the for sale advert it went something like this:

Be the envy of all your pals with this slice of retro-futuristic automotive history...

Who needs air-ride when you can slam this beast at the flick of a switch with its hydropneumatic suspension.

Race around your area with the help of the 1.4 petrol engine putting out a MEGA 65 BHP!!!
This car isn't for the faint hearted!!!

In all seriousness this car can be yours for £275

You read that right two motherfucking hundred and seventy five pounds.

MOT until September Tax until June
Located at RS HQ in Dunfermline

What the fuck are you waiting for?

I honestly don't see why nobody wanted it!

As well as that wonderfully written advert it was also up for sale on Gumtree which had even less response and more time wasters.

It's not that the owner didn't have the money or inclination to fix it, it's that he couldn't be bothered wasting time and money on it as he has other cars that need attention.

I liked the bx and it's a shame it's ended up in the scrappy but at least there's still a last chance for someone to save it before it gets crushed... If I had the time/money and didn't have 4 cars in various states of disrepair maybe I would've taken the bx on.

Posted

It is definitely worth saving ... poor car. If I was rich I'd take them all in.

Posted

It is really a shame to see that BX where it is. I think if he had offered it on somewhere like the BX club forum he may have had better luck.

The photo of it with my car was at the riverside museum in Glasgow for a Citroen gathering back in September. The car had the LHM leak back then I had a look and it looked like a weeping union from memory. The car would really just need a good tidy up as back then it looked solid enough with no dents or scabs.

It is most certain that this will end up in the Krusha. Shame, BX's are now rare and rewarding to own. Not for me though, I don't have any more indoor storage or the free time.

Posted

True. I have owned BX's continually for over 20 years and feel another would just be another if you know what I mean. I want a gs/a, but I will not part with my BX

Loved my Xantias as well.
