theorganist Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I have always wanted a Princess and when Sam Glover decided to advertise his on here I instantly knew it was for me! Especially after reading Vulgalor's epic tale of Princess ownership! Due to having a recalcitrant Maxi on the drive refusing to move I didn't have anywhere to put it so had to took straight to my mechanic. He has done a pre-mot on it and it doesn't need much at all: Two TyresOne Ball JointOne Exhaust (probably the hardest to resolve)Various electrics don't work but that is probably because it has been sitting since 1997 They have it running and he reckons it's a good one, the only observation he made is that it might need some undersealing! Here are some pictures Jim Bergerac, Shep Shepherd, Junkman and 24 others 27

Squire_Dawson Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 2nd picture, Leyland panel fitting LOLZ Great stuff, hope you get it all sorted and back on the road before too long. At the risk of sounding like a record stuck in a groove, be careful about what you decide to rustproof it with underneath. theorganist 1
HillmanImp Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I had to Google the word 'recalcitrant'. That pre MOT list is good news. Looks like a good buy. theorganist 1

I intend to look after this. eddyramrod 1
vulgalour Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I bet your electrics are the switches on the dash. Get the car warmed up and dried out and it'll all start working if my experience is anything to go by. Those rust streaks on the rear quarters, for example, are almost certainly caused by the trim clips holding the stainless on having rusted away. While I can't help with the exhaust I might be able to help with other bits and bobs. I've got a spare passenger seat and at least one rear seat base in the same trim you can have for the massively expensive price of FREE. beko1987, HMC, eddyramrod and 2 others 5

I assume the owners club has a spares guy will ask there about the exhaust as well as keeping an eye on ebay. If not I can get one made if it comes to it.
gordonbennet Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Land Crab sits up well in the pic above, still a neat design in my eyes. Twiggy 1
mercrocker Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 ^Agreed...and that Mk2 shape taken from that viewpoint shows it to its best. I still like 'crabs!
theorganist Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 It is nice especially with the Rostyles. It is an automatic. He has another crab, a ADO16 and a Morris Minor pick-up. That's why I take my cars there! catsinthewelder and eddyramrod 2

That's why I take my cars there! Ooo details please, I'm hoping to get our ADO16 on to daily duties this year and it would be useful to know someone local who can fix it when I can't. Princess looks ace, can't wait to see it out and about.
Wilko220 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Top class purchase. These look better with every year that goes by.

Partridge Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 That is most sexual. It's not sitting quite as low as I'd have expected, what sort of state is the suspension in?
cms206 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 That looks good that does; the more I see these wedges the more I fancy one. Good work fella! theorganist 1

It seems a little low on one side. Compared to the Maxi which has been off the road since the same year which is down on all fours. Partridge 1
eddyramrod Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 It's lovely to see another Wedge saved. AS certainly seems to be an appropriate home for them! I'm thinking maybe I'd like another one in the next year or two, before the Escort RS blokes start looking at BL... Partridge, Vince70, theorganist and 1 other 4

Tre3 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 before the Escort RS blokes start looking at BL...lol
Charlie Croker Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I like those. My pals Dad had a R reg one when we were kids. It looked rough then and I reckon it wasn't more than 6 or 7 years old. A guy who lives near me has a Wolsley one on a P plate......must be one of the last left of that version. It looks like its been in Edinburgh all its life as its plate is $SG $$$P which is a Edinburgh issue.
Paul Dupart Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Always had a soft spot for the Prinny. My Dad bought an immaculate 3 year old 2200HL in 1979, when I was 15. My best memory was school closing early one afternoon due to bad snow, and my Mum doing an 18 mile round trip to pick me and my mates up in it, as the buses had stopped running. It just sailed along as if the snow wasn't there! My Dad sold it to a workmate a couple of years later, but there was a petrol leak from the carb on to the exhaust manifold and it caught fire. Bloody shame as it had been a good trouble free motor until then.
