Remembering those we have lost...

I'm hardly the world's most prolific spotter so it shocked me to realise how many of the cars I've seen on the road in the last couple of years are now either unlicensed or have disappeared from the DVLA system entirely. Here's my little tribute to those that have bitten the dust.

This was a bit of a heap and not really surprising

This on the other hand was a real shame - it was for sale for ages and then disappeared from DVLA records :(

That's quite a shocking attrition rate and with a load more on SORN it seems only the minority of my spots are actually licensed at the moment!

Sad, sad days. Old style reg cars are evaporating faster than a vat of beer at a stag do.

Posted

Got me wondering about the ones I've spotted over the last few years, I'll have a look later and see what has survived.

Posted

Not necessarily gone ,just resting.

The Golfs,Scirocco and possibly Ibizia are probably in the process of being pineappled,Nitro-Mors,angle grinding ,jumble sale tat collection etc takes time.

The 406 could reappear as a Ferrari 430 at any time.

The Camry,Merc and Mazda van are probably giving sterling service in some far flung corner of The Empire.

The Scorpio,Cavaliers and Mondeo could well have gone on to a glorious career in Motorsport .

Which leaves 3 horrible little hatches, and a pointless little van scrapped- no great loss.

The real concerns are the 205 and BX , both cars that evoke much desire and emotion round here , so let's just say they are waiting to be barn finds in 2024.

More likely as a Dongfeng 508. Or a pallet of tinned spam. Or a batch of Hello Kitty tricycles.

Or some fucking thing that's as useful as a goitre or anal skin tags.

Old J reg Pony, WIN! I bet that old Merc 230 would polish up well too. :)

I have just gone through some of my earlier spots, it's a sad day, these are mostly all from 2010.

Shit me , stuffs dying by the 1000s  as  the whole countrys doing this , euro boxes will soon rule the world , oh fuck .

I think Blackbart must've got hold of them, and tried advertising them for sale for 4 days before weighing them in...

That C123 Merc is the most depressing....well the Metro, too, but the Merc reminds me of my own late departed W123 280E in the same hue.   Its gone for a guts now, too.

This looks an interesting, if somewhat depressing game.... Lets have a look at a few of my spots from days of yore...

No surprise that this is dead

Clutching at straws here, but is there always the chance that some of these cars could just be driving around untaxed. Not saying that that in itself is a good thing,  but if it means a nice car is still alive somewhere ...

RIP my second car!

RIP my 1st car, although that isnt what killed it, infact I drove many thosands of miles in it afterwards once me and a mate pieced it back together one sunday

and a big axe, some wood , hammers and drilling new holes in the new bits to get them to line up with the bent stuff!

And of course

Which I'm still not fully over yet *sniff

Both mine are definatly shredded now! Peugeot got set on fire. Someone may have got the 2.0HDI out of it but the rest is certainly gone, mainly because there's nothing left!

Puma is part shredded, minus the doors, boot, bonnet, interior, top of engine, header tank and fannymold. They live on across the country!

Sadly that's not the case, if they were just untaxed then they would still be on the system, a few of mine aren't on sorn but have 2 year out of date tax expiry dates so could still be alive.

The old lady owner of the Datsun might have just needed a new and safe car which is fair enough but the Hyundai dealer is a total philistine. I hope he has Datsun themed nightmares where he is perpetually trapped in its sticky interior when the temp outside goes up to the mid 80's.

This is so criminal! (not just the double yellow line parking).

I really hate the scrappage scheme we had- did it have any advantages? No, not really.  I mean, modern cars are generally more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, but there's a lot of energy going into making a new car.  Also, most of the new cars seemed to come from foreign manufacturers like South Korea and the like, so ultimately not helping the UK economy either.  What was the reasoning behind it- can anyone tell me? Safer cars or something?

The government creamed in a stack of VAT revenue? Wait, no - that didn't help anyone.

Also, Kia and Hydundai salesmen saw a massive boost in bonuses I imagine. How nice for them.

Wish I'd saved that Datsun from the scrappage scheme rather than the dreadful Bond. Hyundai got a bit miffed with CCW after we lambasted them for scrapping Morris Minors. They then made a big story about saving ONE Minor from the scrappage scheme. Years ago now, but it still makes me very angry.

Social engineering to help the advancement of fascism (= corporatism by definition), called 'globalisation' in PC newspeak.

It works like this:

1. Brainwash people into believing that new cars are polar-bear-friendly by inventing the global warming scam first. Note that I only use this as an example here, it is just one of the many facettes of the pseudo-green fascist propaganda.

2. Using 1. you coax people into believing that buying a new car is a bit they can do to save the oh so doomed planet, but in reality has the following advantages:

- the cars are predominantly bought on finance plans (= enslavement)

- new car owners are now dependent on big corporations for after sales service and spares (= enslavement)

- little neighborhood garages that serviced old cars are going out of business, thereby also strengthening the power of the big corporations (= enslavement)

3. Subsidise people who are wealthy enough to be in the new car market with money taken away from people who aren't -> advancement of poverty. This is especially important for governments advancing fascism under the left wing banner, since the more poor people there are, the more votes they get at the next election result falsification round, since for some inexplicable reason people still believe voting for a certain political party makes a difference to the advancement of fascism.

4. As a consequence the cheap used car market is killed, so poor people have to walk. This not only helps that poor people remain poor. Rich people thrive on the misery of poor people and will go to great lengths to make them suffer more (also see 'Elite' and consequently 'Eugenics').
