Cheers :)

Lil extra xmas pressie to me ;p

Hopefully this will still be on in a couple of days as I'm doing my best not to leave the house today.

10w40 semi isn't too much of a bargain, but 5w40 fully synth does seem value to me.

Done! Christmas present for the Porker. And gives me the incentive to finish the Christmas shopping...

Reserve it today and you'll get the 10% discount. You then get a week to collect it.

My store did not have stock, so will be there between 07/01/2014 and 14/01/2014.

Cheers

Cheers Dave, I thought reserve & collect was only for 24hrs ... 7 days is much better, gives me plenty of time to collect/forget about it.

Anyway, I've reserved some, I don't need any atm, but I'll have a bit of stock at home at that price.

Cheers for heads up on this, I have just reserved a couple of bottles for the daily which needs a change anyway.

It is probably Comma Syner-G oil and you won't find that for a tenner anywhere

Posted

Vince, you are the man for giving us the heads up on this. Just ordered 2 bottles for the ZT. Apparently halfords own brand oil is actually decent quality stuff so I'm chalking that up as a megabarg.

Posted

I'm pretty sure it's actually made by Duckhams

I picked mine up first thing this morning the fully synthetic 5/40 is Vag 505 spec which is quite expensive stuff so I reserved two.. One for my cabriolet and one for my parents V5 golf.

You get a quid off for online reservation hence the £9 and I literally went straight down to Halfords on the way to work this morning and didn't have to wait an hour like it suggests on there web site.

Fan, two reserved at my local store, thanks for the heads up, these will go into stock for use next year.

It is actually made by Comma. If you look at the data sheets on Halfords website it says so.

Comma is decent stuff, I believe they blend Mobil 1 in the UK so probably benefit from a bit of technology transfer.

I have practical experiance of Comma oils, all the buses and coaches I used to work on ran on it and anytime I was inside them they were always clean and I can't remember any engine failures due to lubrication failures.

Clean engine oil is cheap insurance.

I went in to collect this yesterday and they had run out of the 4l bottles so the manager just gave me the 5l ones instead. Bargainous :-)

It's a properly good deal. Got my 2 bottles today. Got to love a genuine bargain

Posted

My local Halfords had shed loads of bottles in stock yesterday, I didn't bother buying any though as It's all 5/30 or 10/40 which my cars aren't running at the moment.

I picked mine up today. 2 for the Rover and 4 for the Jaaaag. They had loads in stock. I had a chuckle at some young Barries who were obviously in spending their Christmas money and looking at awful alloy wheels. (Yo, etc etc).

Oh aye, Top Tip: Aftermarket oil filters sometimes don't fit V6 Jaaag engines. Get an proper Jaguar one. £7 from a main dealer. XR858593. I had this ballache last time I changed the oil. 3 different motor factors filters listed for the car (FRAM, Behr & MANN) and none would spin on. Jaguar one went on no bother. I had similar issues with the second S Type V6 (3.0), but the Behr one fitted my Dad's S Type R (V8).

I picked up three 4L bottles yesterday. Plus, a nifty 28 piece 3/8 socket set for 25 sheets.

The socket set looks great value.,

I have the Halfords Pro 150 piece and it's good quality stuff..

The only bits which are a bit cheaply made are the extras such as the screwdriver heads which you don't have in the smaller sets but the actual sockets and ratchets are brilliant and the guarantee is second to none.
