She's my Baby...I'm in Love....but obviously, Advertised elsewhere and can be Withdrawn.

WTF? I am in love with all of ours, and never sold a baby yet!

For crying out loud, £10k for a van which, whilst classic, is still going to be slow and crap at carrying much.I guess with this and then RS2000 rally replias reaching similar stupid money, all you'd need is a forest-arched van with RS 4-spokes and a BDA and you'll have the vehicular equivalent of the crown jewels. OSF members would be spaffing their load four counties away.

I sold a tidy Mk2 van with RS running gear, 5 speed box, twin 40s, Bilsteins, Recaros and all the toys for 600 quid in 2003. I feel silly now.

Posted

So you should. I am waiting for the Mk2 to reach 10 grand a piece, and will then struggle with my conscience on whether to sell or not......

Posted

at 10 large plus a reserve on top, and with thoroughly shite advert i dont think that escort will get a single bid even from any fat builder-type OSF characters from Essex.

That van is not worth half that in the current scene taxed market unless somebody is really bothered about having the 3rd van off the production line. There's a really nice condition K-reg Escort van with 1600GT running gear going for £4k at the moment - again expensive but any old small van in good nick seems to fetch a reasonable amount.

Is it just me or does that actually look a bit shit? :?

I'd struggle to find 2 grand for it in that colour and the way it's presented, it really does not look mint.

 He must be on some seriously strong stuff if he thinks that little lot is worth that sort of money

top two bidders are zero-raters, must be some crack-fuelled shilling going on there or something.

Thirty quid postage too!! Anybody want to Buy It Now and give him INSTANT NEG for being an arse?

WTF?

Aside from the Octopussy set, that all looks to be pretty standard fare, must be on some really strong prescription medication.

You can probably get the Tamiya kit from Hong Kong for 30 quid INCLUDING postage. Knob-end

NIB tamiya RC kits fetch a fortune - thats will be about right for one of those. I had a load of NIB Tamiya RC kits (just sold a load) some not so rare but made over £2000 so dont knock it ;-)

NIB Sand Scorchers fetch £1500 >£2500 + NIB Toyota 3 speed kits fetch £2000 > £3000 now I wouldnt pay that but people out there do.

I still have some NIB kits inc a nice autoshite Subaru Brat (from 1983) a NIB Tamiya Frog and a Blackfoot..

And £30 postage again will be right for insured / guarenteed delivery - there quite a heavy kit - I sold a 4 kits to guy in greece £1250 + £70 postage ..

I appreciate it's each to their own.. but there is quite a collectors market for these.

Fairy nuff then!! :) But (assuming the kit wasnt originally bought for more than a few pounds) wouldnt it be much more fun to start it at 99p and watch the bidding take off? And if its going to realise a grand or the best part of, then where would be the harm in offering free postage?

In other news:

That 4x4 is a shitter that needs cubed but I don't thing £1400 is too outlandish for the other one. If an early mid-range Sierra is what you want it's not too much to pay. Much less and it would end up being used to build a stock car.

I have listed the car for a friend so please direct any questions to him: [email protected]

I reckon its a revenge plan against someone who messed him about on Ebay?

At this point I mention that I had two Brats - both built, one in mint condition hardly ever used and one 'modified' (bearings, shocks, motor, speed controller) and with a different paintjob. You then mention how much their worth, and I regret selling the mint one for £30 and driving the other into a lake.I'd love to get back into retro Tamiya stuff but from what you're saying, I really can't afford to!

It would have been quite a dear kit even when new - it's not a static kit but an RC kit and it's the competition version (which to some I appreciate means nowt - but to some collectors means a lot) I would not be surprised even when new if that kit was £200 ish (back in the early eighties) I agree about the auction I start mine off 99p no reserve but like everything at the moment due to exchange rate he may not be able to afford to sell it for less. For my sins I have over 70 kits - NIB / runners / projects and yes I have 2 holiday buggies (one will be for sale soon if interested) I dont know how I find the time what with my main cars as well..
