£2491  I struggle to imagine more than about £50 for that. Presumably there might be a few bits of use to an Alfa licker but where would you begin on restoring that.

Ho ho, love that Alfa advert

pre sale vehicle preperation and warranty cover fully included

I'd like to see that :lol:

Nice, but £700? Linky

I would, but not for £1500! I would want it to be all one colour for that. However there is this in the listing

PAYMENT WILL BE PAYPAL STRIGHT AWAY AT THE END OF THE SALE, AGAIN DONT MAKE ANY OFFERS IF YOU CANT PAY STRIGHT AWAY, I DONT NEED CASH OR SWAPS

Sod that, I wouldn't paypal £500 let alone £1500 without seeing the thing. If he doesn't need cash, give it to me. I will take it off him for nothing.

I built a 1:24 Monogram kit of that 4dr Corvette America, years and years ago. Interesting to see a pic of the real thing.

I've never paid more than £200 for a Type 25 - my current yoke cost me that with tax and test. It's only a 1.9 Watercooled panel van, and it has since absorbed about £1500 in parts, but that's only because I run a garage and like maintaining things. A lot. Having said that, there is still lots and lots of overpriced tat about. Lots of people are willing to pay 3 grand unseen for a wagged up snotter just so they can have a camper van.

Aaah, but you're one of 'those people'.'Those people' have mind-numbingly cheap stuff offered to them all the time, by virtue of their trade, their appearance, or asking cheeky questions :)Seriously though, T25s are where T2s were ten years ago. In 2000, my local VW specialist were doing a roaring trade buying up £500 splitscreens and early bays from the free ads, dragging them out of gardens after the elderly owner passed away, blast a few repair panels on (or filler if you're in a hurry) and some paint, wait for paint to dry and get £5k for it. They excelled themselves with a £15k splitscreen made out of a £200 snotter and a few weeks work. I remember standing there as they were putting the windows in taking the piss about their asking price, and laughing less at VW Action where they met the buyer who paid it in cash.I still see the odd T25 in the ads for a few hundred. Even a Syncro crewcab for £600 not so long ago. Trouble is they're snapped up by people with space, which isn't me :(
Yep you're right about the T25 being where the T2 was, it was bound to happen and the thing about the T25 is that they are the last in the line of the flat-fronted rear-engined campers and they did them in air-cooled for the perverts.I bought a fully kitted out T25 camper for £4500 but I have seen the same model go for more and mine isn't cool it is 'old bid' spec with lots of shitty peach velour etc, it took me bloody ages to find as there are so many piles of shit about its unreal, they all have grot in the seams-even mine has a little. I know plenty of people whoi are still buying old builders vans for next to nothing and converting-that would be the ideal thing to do but I wanted a particular model from a certain year and spec.I bought a T25 because I wanted one since I was 8 and I needed a small campervan because I live in Jersey so wanted to be able to use it daily if needed and also I hate flying...oh and I fucking hate Sherpas, I ended up buying a cheapo bay window at first ironically because I couldn't find a decent T25 but ended up getting one. It really does amaze me when I'm driving it how good it is to drive.I really like mine they actually drive really well, mine is a 1.9 water-cooled petrol and its actually quite smooth probably because the engine is at the rear. Loads of people hate them because loads of surfer types like them, why? thats fucking crazy, the vans are popular because they're bloody good-my 1975 camper was really good to drive, I'm not a surfer I bought they van because they are so much better than anything else at that size and price, the interior layout for example is a million times better than a Transit/Traffic/Talbot. I've driven 11 year old transits that have been crap in comparison and as for sherpas-well I know this is supposed to be a forum of all things un-appreciated but I've had far too many bad experiences with them. The thing is though is that a T25 is an expensive thing to run, the petrol engined ones drink fuel like its going out of fashion and generally they need an extra bit of TLC, alot of surfer types are as previously discussed buying T4s because they're cheaper, more economical and more reliable so the T25 may not be as popular as the T2 & T4 in years to come.If we're talking proper converted campers look at alternatives that are able to fit in a normal car parking space, you have Sherpas=shit, Transits, Traffics and Talbot Express=nice and tick alot of boxes but they're bigger and the beds are a crap design now that leaves Mazda Friendee Bongo-good choice but a bit modern for me and a Toyota Hi-ace, the Toyota would win it for me but have you seen how much a 20 years old Hi-ace camper goes for?

Keyword spamming. Anyone looking for one of those will have his heap pop up in their search.

Not that they need to do it anymore, eBay's "new search experience" does it for you - for example, do a search for "Talbot Sunbeam" and see how many fault code readers eBay thinks you might need to work on one.

Jesus wept. I mean come on, a ratty stripped shell? Thats just spastic mentalist and anyone paying that much wants not only their bumps feeling, but locking away in the room with rubber wallpaper and a box of blunt crayons.

Hell if only all cars were worth this much one day - Im really looking forward to the Nissan Micra world rally class where K11 shells are one day worth a fortune, but I suspect pigs will fly out of my arse before that happens.

Oh I xpected so much more than this from Mr Simpson - the old breaking a car bid and all you get is a lightbulb for £25..

I mean, im not arsed aout the car being broken, not that a seemingly nice car is being scraped just for the raping of its air con compressor, but its the lightbulb for £25 thing that really gets on my tits. Thats all.

He's not at all bitter is he!

Some of you may have heard of me because I've been a motoring journalist for over twenty years, am currently Editor of Car Mechanics and was, before EMAP decided that they wanted to dumb the title down (isn't it a load of tripe these days?!) Editor of Practical Classics. I also write regularly for Classic Car Weekly (the one 'good' classic publication left in my view..) and Auto Express...

That's only to discourage the numbskulls from bidding and expecting to get the whole car for 25 quid. Nothing more sinister than that.

Starting at 5 grand.. granted its a pretty good replica externally, but internally......overkill. Plus its probably now the most flammable vehicles on the planet. So just over a day left, and guess what, no bids.
